GeotargetI'd like a comfy linen/cotton blend suit, and a snappy gray fedora. Not sure where that urge for a summer suit in November came from.

I can't watch TV shows that place in hospitals, at least not around the anniversary of my father's death or his birthday. I had an extended crying jag last night when I remembered that his birthday is coming up in about 2 weeks. First time I've really cried for quite a while. Ultimately cleansing, but think I hurt my side a little bit as a result. Newt was a great comfort to me.

I miss my dad. I miss the way my brother was when he was 12. I think that I get along with my mother better these days than I ever had as a kid.

The office has decided not to pay salaried folks for time away from work due to Hurricane Wilma... I'm going to point them to Hurricane Wilma Disaster Unemployment Assistance. To determine eligibility for Wilma DUA (or standard unemployment benefits), start by contacting the Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation (Florida unemployment office) or filing an unemployment claim through same by 11/28/2005. For information about other types of Hurricane Wilma disaster assistance, browse the FEMA and FDEM sites.

I'm safe... I worked every day save for 2, and those two days I gave training and tech walk-through to our rep in Texas. I think that everyone else save for ECN and myself will end up getting docked a little more than week's pay. (I wonder if the Big Kahuna will cut herself, too?)

I don't know if it'd be easier or harder having a no-contact parent that's still alive, or having the loss come quickly with death.

The reason they gave is that "nobody came in to work, so why should we pay them", basically. It really stinks for a couple people, because they live paycheck to paycheck... and the one that came during the 'cane was a full one, with no warning that the *next* would reflect cuts, until the day before checks were handed out. I got my dollars because I actually worked during the power outage at a remote locaton.

The upside is that folks can apply to FEMa and etc for lost wages, but I really don't think it should've happened to salaried people... hourly, I can understand. Something that's burned my britches on more than one occasion is seeing a "salaried" person get cuts for working less than 80 hours, but not getting overtime for putting in over 100.

dirty dirty dirty.
