I've come to realize that my writing skills have atrophied terribly. I think some of it is due to being busy, and some due to just lapsing into the lazy convenience of twitter and pictures over content with more substance.
I've taken a few strides toward getting back in the saddle, though there are still quite a few excuses I could make to myself to skip. I'm officially installed at blog.scottobear.com though I will still read my friends list and forward my entries to LJ... I'm too attached to livejournal to turn my back on it.
Pyewacket went to the vet today - he still wasn't doing so well, so BHK drove him to Annapolis, and the doc gave him a tummyful of barium. The vet techs observed him for a bit, and assured BHK that he was AOK. MIL went along, so while they waited, a trip to Tuesday Morning was in order. The vet was one that BHK is very comfortable with - was quite sensitive when Kona was having issues back in the day, too. The outcome after three different x-rays, he sounds like he's doing well, but we're going to keep an eye on him.
I want to repair the crazy-brain.
Lots of anxiety and distress have been appearing to affect my system physically lately... I'm looking for new ways to process those feelings. A worst case situation includes elements of stuttering, sweating, stomach distress, being unable to breathe, panic, anger, irrationality, fear, headache, dizziness and joint pain.
I have to remind myself that it's all just a ride. Not only that, but I have a lot of wonderful blessings in my life - my wife, the lads, good friends... not to mention all of the positive, but intangibles. BHK was thinking it might be a form of ADD - I'm skeptical, but will keep an open mind - if only to seek the best possible remedy to the frequent unpleasantness.

HR Puffinstuff was likely not in HR
Dec. 8th, 2010 07:33 pmDreamt last night that we were under attack by folks of the Winnebago tribe – they wanted to steal the Love Cube.
Showered while singing “Mr. Custer“.. no doubt a result of the aforementioned dream-stuff.
Last night went by like a blur. Got home, ordered pizza, BHK fell asleep on the couch.. I rudely awakened her, and we went to bedski. I awakened at 5 this morning, and headed off to work – without my wallet. Thankfully, I have tasty leftover dindin from the night before last. Brussels Sprouts, tasty rice and quorn cutlet.
NJR’s last day at work is tomorrow – He’s a good guy – I’d take him out for a drink with the guys if we didn’t have so many things going on. Hopefully he’ll be back when he’s between acting gigs – but for now, he’s off to Naples, FL.
I’m really digging the cooler weather – I can feel Christmas around the corner, and snow somewhen after that. There’s a good vibe walking to work from the metro in a bracing chill, wrapped in a homemade scarf.
Newt and Pye have been enjoying a nice bit of fun now that the leaves are spending more time being whirled about in the wind rather than stuck to branches – Newt had pretty much laid claim to the window ledge behind BHK’s work station upstairs… but now, Pye has taken to queuing up behind Newt for a spot to watch the leafy fallout. Later Newt got his seat back and Pye was on top of him to get another turn….at one point Newt started to fall asleep and look away and Pye gave him a healthy nudge in the head to remind him that someone else was waiting for a turn.

I’ve been cheating quite a bit – I prefer to post verbal over visual content. I’ll admit that I like to see pictures of Christmas, family and the kitties as much as the next guy, but to me, a photograph with just a small caption is strangely silent, especially coming from me.
What have I been up to lately, dear journal? Let’s see.
On Wednesday, I went to a job fair in Northern Virginia… I’m thankful that my background allows me to qualify for a good clearance ranking. DC area seems to prefer folks with an ability to do so.
Yesterday, BHK, Chris and I went to the Mexico restaurant for supper – aside from that, I went to physical therapy and rested in bed with the boys. Tonight we’re scheduled to visit the Manspergers for some baked Ziti and good conversation – Sean has been very helpful, in helping me to seek out opportunities in this region.
I’m looking forward to a snowy day tomorrow. Supposed to be 12-20 inches in my neck of the woods!
Amy is coming to visit from the 26th to the 30th! Right on!
I’m digging the new statistics page for livejournal. Makes it easier to track hits than by hiding little sensors in each post, certainly. The “my guests” feature is especially engrossing – I never know so many flyby’s happened to old entries!
I’m glad the tv show lost is in it’s final season. I don’t hate the show… but I am tired of the hype. I watched the first season or so, and then stopped, when it occurred to me that they’d keep making shows as long as advertisers would pay to keep ‘em on the air, and not because there’s a solid plot going from beginning to end. I feel the same about Heroes, sadly. If there had been something more engaging than “what is the answer” and one I’d never get, I’d probably dig both of those shows.
Also, I think Blade should’ve been in Twilight, not Buffy.
New Years, I’m planning on doing the Polar bear plunge, unless my health isn’t into it. Current holiday loot breakdown – all of it wonderful!

Nov. 9th, 2009 11:10 amMaking a change in the house - switching off cable television. (well, actually, DirecTV)
We decided a while back that we watch way too much tv... then, when the dvr broke, and DirecTV gave us shoddy customer service, that clinched it. They promised us a new box and instead they wanted to charge us more for a refurbished model than give us our replacement for free, like they said that they would.
Looking at the shows that either BHK or I record, we figured it was a good thing to just cancel our service, and get what we want via netflix or online.
Here's what we had on the save list to follow and/or catch up on. It may be a bit obvious which I lean towards, and which are BHK's.

Jul. 7th, 2009 01:11 pmApparently the IME (independent medical exam) claims that I'm back to where I was before my fall. Nope- not so. Fortunately, I'm still good for one more epidural with them, and then it goes to my regular insurance.
Hell, as long as I don't have to pay more than a minimum to get fixed to a point where I can function, whatever works. Apparently, I missed my #3 injection due to Denise the receptionist's oversight - she claimed I was unable to get the shot due to worker's comp not being properly phrased.
We'll see how this turns out.
In other news - BHK and I may go see our Tuesday movie, or we might go on walkabout in a bit. time will tell, dear journal.
Looking for a ew renter for out Deerfield beach condo - old tenant is great, but he moves back to Brazil this month.
Bear Scare in Ohio cracks me up.

Scholastic was there - lots of flashbacks to the days when filling out a little strip of paper and ordering books through school came back.
Book fair was at the Keys school private education pre-k - 12- the mascot is the obezegs (Gazebo backwards)
Also shown - Easter egg tree, gazebo roof, and some video of the local color.

Made it to work with time to spare, I was welcomed by Franklin-cat - I'm going to get treats for him later.
Batman Brave & the Bold continues to be exceptional - I really liked the recent Joker's 50's design is ... also "brake, choke, throttle, " my kind of car! comment was perfect.
Speaking of Throttle - Comcast returned - didn't call BHK to let her know they had come by - seems they had throttled down our connection because they couldn't figure out how to properly bill us? What? Anyhow, it is back up to speed now. Just as well - Verison's service isn't in our area - our only other alternative is satellite-type stuff - Hughes net. That's the price we pay for living in a rural-ish area, I guess!
Grabbed subs, did $2 worth of scratch-off tickets (and won$2! - broke even), and headed home to watch Hancock tonight - I thought it was pretty enjoyable, all told. I think the thing was to not expect "meteor man - drunk hero" throughout the whole film. I do have to wonder about the other super though... why was Hancock the only person being a hero? Just seeing the movie made me wonder if a Damage Control film was a viable thing - a ton of collateral damage.

Mar. 1st, 2009 09:31 pmI played a little bit of Fallout 3 this afternoon while waiting for the in-laws to show up for supper - pigs in blankets!
Once they got here, I got a telephone call from my mom - just gabbed a bit, but when I came back out, the in-laws were ready to take off. I guess they weren't too into The Fall. BHK and I liked it - I really enjoyed just staring through it - nifty costumes and sets.
Photos from this evening. Featuring snow that looks like ping pong balls in the light of a flash, blue lit room due to pausing the tv, and a phantom kiss from BHK due to a long shutter opening. Also seen is the "Rosy Glow" due to light diffraction outside.

Funny to me that we get more snow on the first day of March than the rest of winter combined. Looks like about 8 inches tonight... powdery, no crust... like confectioners sugar with some glitter tossed in for effect. Maybe tomorrow will be a "Snow Day" and I can work from home!

In-laws came over and we all had pancakes for Dinner tonight - along with some deviled / boiled eggs, it made for a tasty end of the day.
Larry and I tried spotting the green comet Lulin tonight, but to no avail - the neighbor's house blocked out that part of the horizon. Maybe sometime this weekend, we can head out to the boardwalk and try to spot a section that isn't too lit up.

Been waiting at the doctors office for about 30 minutes now - longer time than usual to get shots.
BHK is getting blood work done - I’m more peeved that she has to wait than me - she has been fasting since last night and probably has some low blood sugar going on.
I’m just glad they have some juice available to her for afterward.
After we finish here, plans are for me to get a haircut, a spot of breakfast and then visit Miss Tigger for some love while the in-laws are out off town on a school field trip.
This weekend is primarily set to be for catching up with work - home and otherwise.
Supper last night was buffalo “chicken” patties - celery for BHK, pickles for me. Caught up with an episode of Burn Notice and Psych, and then we toddled off to bed. Straightforward evening.

I am back from my shot- bhk getting blood work done now.
Good day sunshine going through my head, for no reason in particular. This week did not feel like a 4-day workweek. I hope next week is less demanding on my resources.
Britny’s girlfriend broke up with her the day before valentine’s day- kind of a punk maneuver. They’re best friends “with benefits” now, but are free to see other folks. That sounds a bit like a death knell for a relationship to me, but who knows how it will work out for them?
Haven’t heard a lot from Jay or Sean lately - I suspect that that Duncan hasx been giving them quite a run for their money.
It’s pretty cold in the doc’s office… remodeled too - the carpet is making me feel a little dizzy, too.

BHK is done with bloodwork - they gave her a caprisun? I thought real fruit juice was proper, not corn syrup? Ah well, we'll get some breakfast / lunch at home - lots of good eats there.

We go to Chessie's for subs - I get veggie & cheese, BHK gets a pizza-steak sub. I opt out of getting a haircut at the barber shop next door, as they only take cash. 7-11 next door has drinks and dessert - BHK starts on a slim jim to get her system back.
