dreamt about being homeless, sleeping in a dumpster under old newspapers to stay safe from the weather.

just did a little mental exercise in moving my consciousness around my body and expanding it outward. I imagine that i can perceive things more clearly... the locations of other people on my block, walking driving and sleeping in their rooms. Temperatures vary from place to place, breezes and movements of small animals like squirrels. purest fantasy, of course, but it's cheap entertainment.

some pictures from post wilma walkabout. I took the fallen action figure, shattered glass was everywhere, like snow at the foot of the buildings.

a lot of animals didn't make it, especially birds.

Find the owner!

I say we start a missing action figure campaign to find the owner of the toy. Think how empty the person's next cubicle will be without their superhero companion!

Well, I suspect the cube is empty...but cyclops has a good home now.

Yikes! Messy. But at least the buildings are still standing up, which is often not the case with an earthquake. I think the birds do better in earthquakes, though. Aside from having their nests knocked out of the trees (only a major problem if they have flightless nestlings in them), they pretty much escape the whole earthquake thing by becoming airborne at the first tremor. I guess windstorms are the avian equivalent of earthquakes.

I'm glad that you and Newt got through it okay, and I hope you get your utilities back soon.

That's true, though I suspect that a lot of these buildings will be razed to make way for more secure ones soon.

It looks like my next block has power now, so maybe I'll get full-time juice soon!

I cant imagine how a thing like that feels like, we dont go tthem in sweden. We got storms but nothing like that. In some wierd strange way i find buty in the pictures of trashed houses... in some way i cant explain i fell comfort in the idea whatever we humans do we cant win over nature.

Believe me, you're not missing anything that you'd want.

As long as nobody's hurt, I don't mind the damag so much.

How sad to see all that. Must be quite Surreal. And where does one put their anger at such destruction? Gotta be hard. Poor Action Figure!

I love that icon!

We all need a Newt at times like this. :)

Funny, but I have had flashbacks of my worst Katrina fears -- all those folks wading in waist-high toxic muck and the attendant infections. Have been thinking of my rather dramatic foot and leg wounds as my Katrina stigmata.

I am home (ahhhhhhhhhh home - deep exhale) after 11 days hospital-bound. Strange transition from vacation dream state (what day is it? what time? what current events?) to hospital hyperdrama (clocks, schedules, counting off the hours, days, 24/7 TV, CNN, human drama).

Menagerie is overjoyed. I am assembling a mini-staff of work help, house help, visiting nurses, and Mahoney is delighted at expansion of his fan base.

Glad you and Newt are safe. Missing you, too. Smooches.

Wow! Such interesting photos, Scotto. You did a great job creating a chronical of the Wilma destruction. The pictures made me sad, especially the dead bird photo, something about the curled up feet, it was scared I bet. But nature had her say, I suppose. Shooo! I'm very glad you're fine. Thanks for the pictures. I haven't heard much or seen much at all, so this was an informative snap-shot of the damage.

Thank you! I really haven't seen much, since I have no tv or raido, and only spotty net.
