... Tornado threat will increase across South Florida this evening...

At 530 PM EDT... Miami and Key West Doppler radars indicated rain bands associated with Hurricane Wilma beginning to spiral slowly northeastward towards South Florida. Individual intense showers and thunderstorms within these rain bands are showing rotation... with waterspouts likely affecting the Gulf waters at this time. As the rain bands move onshore this evening... tornadoes will be likely across the area. A few strong tornadoes are even possible... especially during the late evening hours. Tornadoes associated with hurricanes typically develop quickly... so there may be very little time to act. A Tornado Watch is in effect for the area until 1 am EDT. This watch likely will be extended through the overnight hours. The rain bands will begin to affect the southwest Florida coast early this evening... then will move eastward across the rest of South Florida before midnight.

Tornadoes too. Swell. By morning tomorrow we should be in the middle of ol' Wilma. Be careful.

Good. Looks like it may be close, but it should pass just to the south of us. 70-90 mph winds and a good rain. Little bit of the storm surge too, but I have hopes.

This one is really unsettling. We don't really know what to expect and we were anticipating it for almost a week, so we had a lot more time than usual to worry about it.

It looks like a lot of people aren't too concerned - most of them didn't put up shutters or move stuff off their patio.

That seems to be a common theme around here, too.. I packed up the trash cans and my wind chimes, but not much else outside to worry about.

I hope you keep safe!
