after 5. I can play my recorder.

(I can't believe I forgot both my book and my recorder at work yesterday! ack! )

downside of recorder. I can neither talk, nor type while playing it.

or maybe that's the upside. :)

Trying to work out a recorder version of a Dave Matthews tune... Has a warm spot in my heart.

Good things to focus on: Ornj, Lavender, #36, comfort, Newton...

bliss is everywhere, you just have to remember where you keep it.

:) I have a lovely bolivian recorder I'm forever frightening the cats with ... mostly because, I've never actually really bothered officially learning how to play it; it amuses me more to just blow and see what I come up with. All a part of my acting theory of play.

that's always fun... randomish sounds are a fun aspect of life.. :)

that's how I feel about the theramin... I'd love to have one at home for me and the cat to play and dance around, making all manner of goofy sound.

I seem to have missplaced mine. Can you point me in the right direction?

It's inside. (at least that's where I try to find mine when I lose it.)

I have a Peruvian flute .. you want to use that instead?? It has two levels of reeds on it and a total of 14 notes to play, but it might scare Newt a bit.

Now, can you explain to me.. # 36? I think I am lost there... *shrug*

nah, the recorder is much simpler... about a foot long, wood, and comfy. Thanks though. :)

#36 is a song by Dave Matthews Band... very romantic, makes me think of the girl I love.

Tourist Trills

Recorders are cool! And so portable. I have one in our van and sometimes when we're stuck in the ferry line I'll play along with the radio. The recorder always makes me feel rather like the Pied Piper, too.

Then there's this guy in town who preys upon tourists with his recorder. He plays the same four notes over and over for hours while busking; however, the moment a tourist approaches he does what the locals refer to as his "tourist trill" which is to theatrically flutter a note and rise up on his toes as though really getting into it (rather like how a WWF wrestler will 'sell' a punch by pretending to have been hurt). It's a silly site.

Have fun! :)
