Wendy pointed me to this... how cool!

Adopt Sea Turtles for Mother's Day!

A mother sea turtle will travel thousands of miles to move from feeding areas to mating areas and then to her preferred beach to lay her eggs.

It is a long crawl up the sandy beach where she makes her nest before she swims back to sea. Wouldn't your mom travel such great lengths for you as well? This Mother's Day, show her how much you appreciate all she's done for you with an adoption of a sea turtle from WWF's Online Adoption Center.

Second life has been running slow as molasses lately.. no packet loss so I'm a bit befuddled about the slowdown.

Moment of Lyric - mp3

Well I don't know why I came here tonight,
I got the feeling that something ain't right,
I'm so scared in case I fall off my chair,
And I'm wondering how I'll get down the stairs,
Clowns to the left of me,
Jokers to the right, here I am,
Stuck in the middle with you.

Yes I'm stuck in the middle with you,
And I'm wondering what it is I should do,
It's so hard to keep this smile from my face,
Losing control, yeah, I'm all over the place,
Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right,
Here I am, stuck in the middle with you.

Well you started out with nothing,
And you're proud that you're a self made man,
And your friends, they all come crawlin,
Slap you on the back and say,
Please.... Please.....

Trying to make some sense of it all,
But I can see that it makes no sense at all,
Is it cool to go to sleep on the floor,
'Cause I don't think that I can take anymore
Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right,
Here I am, stuck in the middle with you.

Well you started out with nothing,
And you're proud that you're a self made man,
And your friends, they all come crawlin,
Slap you on the back and say,
Please.... Please.....

Well I don't know why I came here tonight,
I got the feeling that something ain't right,
I'm so scared in case I fall off my chair,
And I'm wondering how I'll get down the stairs,
Clowns to the left of me,
Jokers to the right, here I am,
Stuck in the middle with you,
Yes I'm stuck in the middle with you,
Stuck in the middle with you.

I still want to visit Weeki Wachee Springs, no matter how cornball it is. It's further away than Disney though... about a 5 hour drive. (Haven't thought about is since August 15, 2003, until BHK flashed my memory while I was talking about the Coral Castle Which I last mentioned on Feb 5, 2005, and prior on Jan 26, 2002. Google is mighty. )

WOW! Memories! I visited Coral Castle often as a child growing up in Miami. It was often a field trip, along with the Seaquarium and the Serpentarium. Weekee Watchee I remeber seeing once. Both worth a return visit for interst and nostalgia...The sea turtle adoption idea rocks! My mom is hard to shop for, and I usually try to do something that gives back. Last Mother's day it was a candle made by Isreali women in a pouch embroidered by Palestinian women. They work separately towards a common goal of stopping violence. All have lost children or siblings in the conflict. Thanks for the great idea! Boy, I am wordy this morning!

Wow... the serpentarium! That's where Parrot Jungle got started... I think that the place shut down when I was in High school, though. I remember wanting to go, and it was permanently closed.

the candle/pouch gift sounds so great!

Parrot Jungle! I used to ride my bike there! One of my teachers was close friends with Dr. Haast who founded the Serpentarium, hence the field trips. Their daughter Shantih went to scool in my older sister's grade. For awhile, she had a pet lion...very exotic! I believe the original place closed because they had a crocodile named Cookie who escaped more than once and wreaked havoc. The old Serpentarium was smack dab next to a McDonald's...

Ran across your site looking up Bill Haast. I used to live a couple blocks over from the original Serpentarium on Southwest 82nd Court I believe. I used to ride the bus to school with his daughters, I remember two girls but I could be wrong. The bus took us to Pinewood Acres or Gulliver Academy. The was a 50's style motel behind the Serpentarium and a park with a spaceship type junglejim across the street. This was around 1968. Good times.

I remember all of that! The cheesy motel and the playground. I spent a lot of time in that spaceship. My brother went to Gulliver years later.

I don't think Weeki Watchee Springs sounds cornball at all :P
Although I've been thinking aobut that video--the one where they found the missing id tag 53 years later--some things don't add up. The woman who lost it was a mermaid? Well then did she wear the tail? Her friend noted she wore the id tag on her ankle. Wouldn't it have gotten caught by the closed tail suit? Hmmmsoething smells fishy to me at Weeki Watchee--better send Nancy Drew down.

And CORAL CASTLE! Now I want to take a trip more than ever---my absolute favorite thing is roadside attractions from the pre-interstate era.

Maybe she was a reverse mermaid, wore a fishy top-and let her hhuman legs free!

Reverse mermaid sound like something you just made up bub.

Oh fox on a trampoline---I missed that the first time!

So we can ask for a picture of anything? Man imagine the evil possibilities! (For one I'd like to see a picture of the front and back of your credit card :> *evil grin*)

Ok ok in all seriousness can we have a picture of Newt's pink paw pads?

I'l take a picture of the CC, but that might not stop me from hiding numbers and signatures! :D

sure, Newtie-feets are a pic I can do.... did you have any others?

Nah I don't want your CC I was just being a mischief.

Hmm other pics? Your hands? I always like seeing people's hands.

I just sifted through the past few entries again because I needed to see "fox on a trampoline" again--I wonder if Samuel Jackson would consider doing a movie version of it--"FOX ON A TRAMPOLINE"

I wonder what it's like to discover a magical device like that by someone who doesn't know anything about it.

From: [identity profile] blackhellkat.livejournal.com
well I can't speak for the fox but when I discover a magical device I've never used before the phrase "like a monkey with a gun" always runs through my head. But then monkeys are know for getting into mischief without trying too hard--like me.

Never argue with a woman or a lawyer!

A woman lawyer is right out!

Date: 2006-04-29 12:30 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] blackhellkat.livejournal.com
I'm not a lawyer yet.

I just love using the word compromise---especially on my nephew--he didn't used to understand it so I cold get away with onesided "compromises" now the little bugger knows what the word means and I can't "Compromise" with him anymore.

Date: 2006-04-29 12:33 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] scottobear.livejournal.com
But you're certainly a woman!

I can bend like a reed in the winds of compromise, until it's something that's really important.

Date: 2006-04-29 12:37 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] blackhellkat.livejournal.com
Yep I'm feeling real womanly right about now--my hair looks like its been tossed in a blender, I think one of my eyes has turned a different color from excessive computer use and I've got microwave popcorn butter and salt smeared all over my hands and face.....mmmmm yeah I'm more monkey than woman at this point :D

Note to self: Next time Scotto allows pictures requests would like to see the "bend like a reed in the winds of compromise" yoga pose of which he speaks--wondering if its anything like "goosed by iguana" or "screams like girl".
