i was thinking it'd be nifty to have my grown-up pals be able to kick legs from the chiars, etc.

I think it'd be comical to have everything a little alice in wonderland oversized.. big plates and spoons, etc. :)

I can usually kick my legs on normal furniture, so it would be interesting to see "normal" sized adults doing the same. Hee!

it's funny. most of the girls I know run to the shorter end of things.. from 5' to about 5'4 in bare feet, but most of the guys are more than 5'10.

Weeeeeeeee! new place, new seats...(we have the tallest commodes we could find cuz the boys are all 6' at least. I like it fine until I go to my moms place...hers are so low, I nearly fall onto it.

Do you have a newer bed? Bought a pillow top a couple of years ago, and was shocked at how high it was. All but a few of beds in the stores were taller than they used to be. The height makes them look better I think.

First night I woke up in the middle of the night and thought, "OMG, I'm so high!". Was really agitated by the height, but quickly passed out again. Took me a couple of nights to get used to it, but now I love it.

Hard for me to get up in the bed easily, because of my height though. :/

Are you excited about getting settled in? Packing sucks, but you get to situate everything and make it nest-like...and that makes up for it. :0)

Be sure to tell us how Newt reacts to the new place!

The bed is pretty new... it *is* weird that 6 inches taller makes it seem like you've been launched into space. I'm glad you've acclimated. I get a little paranoid about Newt getting under the bed - I fear the bed will break and maybe hurt him, so he's forbidden from going there. A silly anxiety, but I've had cheap bedframes break before. (from plopping down on one corner too hard.)

I'm looking forward to being in my own place, and I know Newt's going to have fun with the new terrain!

I have such respect for how you look out for Newt.

Two more people on my list had their cats run over within the last two weeks. One of them got a kitten afterward, and proclaimed that it, too, would be an outdoor cat. Went on to admit they can't afford to spay or neuter any of their outdoor cats, so all outdoor cats must now be female, because "male, unneutered cats wander & I lose them".

Bah! You are one of about 3 people on my list who can think animal safety through logically.

This bed was about $900...so not too cheap, and it broke within a month. Plopped down on the side, and a steel slat broke away from the frame. I've shoved boxes & all sorts of stuff underneath to keep the cats out. When one does find a way to sneak under, I shoo 'em out with a broom, and shove even more stuff underneath.

If they can't afford to neuter their cat, they shouldn't have one. I feel bad for the critters that they have, since the owners are so neglectful.

Oh WOW. Me, too! To be honest, I'm sick of hearing it. :\

If it's not hurting them, or doesn't have anything to do with them personally, why must people turn something _simple_, into a negative, when it's a positive thing?

I agree 100%.

It's too bad each city doesn't have the money/resources to make it so that you get ticketed if your pet isn't fixed, unless you pay for a yearly breeding license. Or that all vets must give free nueter/spays, and the city funds it. Wishful thinking.

There are so many dingalings out there who can't care properly for critters... sometimes I wonder if it's me that's the one who is out of line, but If I have to be in error, I'd prefer to be wrong on the side of kindness.

I wonder sometimes if I'm the one who is off, too. I'm not anywhere close to being militant. I'm *not* asking people to be *obsessed or over the top*. I am just very confused as to why people don't understand that at the very least, mediocre treatement of animals, is more decent behavior for human beings than not caring enough to think about anything other than food & water.

I'm thinking of making a community where I can post pet articles. From cute stuff to new scientific findings when it comes to pets, etc. I have to think up a catchy, easy to remember name first.

It's a good looney! However, I think we're doing what we're supposed to be doing. Right now many are still going by what they learned from their parents. I think the Internet has been instrumental in waking peeps up.

I'm going to remember to say that. I'm glad you mentioned it. I'm pretty blown away when people often tell me they're not doing anything even basic for their pet. They literally think I'm a weirdo for thinking they should. Maybe a comment such as that, will make them think. Maybe. At the very least, I hope it will just make them hush. :0)
