Oh, man. I had a nightmare this morning about Newtie dying... and then read all about a bunch of humans and animals dying today. Three LJ entries, another person in Maryland shot...

I feel for anyone who loses a loved one or neighbor, regardless of how many legs they walk on. I had a giant taste of grief waking up this morning, and though it left quickly, it's a thing that's easily recalled.

I know that this sort of thing happens every day...but I don't think about it daily. Who could, and be sensitive and thoughtful about the whole thing?

I only hope that when those that I love depart, they go knowing that they're loved and will be remembered with good thoughts.

Tell someone that you care for how you feel today. Even if they know, I'm sure they won't mind being reminded. I tell my sweetheart, my brother and Newt that I love them as often as I can.

Dieing Cats

How long do cats live, anyway? Our cat, Beena, has started to loose some teeth. He (we call him she actually, it's what comes of having four daughters) was born about 10 years ago. I love Beena, he's huge, he's affectionate, and he is very attached to his namesake (each of my kids had cats, and three of them we named for the nicknames we had for the kids. Thus Amy whom we called Amy Lucci had a cat named Lucci. Melissa, whom we called Missy Wissy had a cat named Wissy and Kristina, whom we call Tina-Beena had ... Beena. She (see, I did it) has this interesting quality (the cat) of bumping her head into you to tell you she loves you. She doesn't bump my head. It really irritates me, but.. I deserve her feline distance.

I've known of cats to live to be 22 years old, but I think the average length for an indoor cat is 17 years.

Most cats seem to default to a female gender role... I've had a few people call Newton a She.

He's a boy!
