This is one of my favorite parts of the path I walk on around the airport... lots of shade trees, and low traffic in the morning, and it feels very peaceful. Sort of funny are the miniature roadsigns. I was (still am, to a lesser degree) in a silly mood, and had a nice meander around the air-park. There were a couple roller-mommies out there today. ladies on rollerblades, pushing strollers on bike-tire tripods for the kiddies to cruise in. Thos things are neat! I hope to get a picture of one soon. (they move at a good clip compared to my speed-walking... easier to see them coming... hard to stop one and ask permission though. I didn't feel too bad aobut taking the guy's picture below as it was a parting shot and not really the focal point. I'm going to have to start remembering sunglasses and the ball-cap for walkies again... the sun was strong today.

Work today is being a chore. Fortunately Dexter the puppy is here to make things more fun... pic of him when I get home. Duty calls, I have to make this Broward county data filter by 5. nothing like waiting until the last minute.

now, I look at that photo and think "how restful!" because I'd probably sit my ample bottom down on a bench and gaze at the sunshine & trees and be glad not to be cold. [g]

funny you mention that. if you track to the left on the picture about three unseen feet, there's a lovely bench for resting.

What kind of tree is the one closest on the right? What a fabulous trunk it has! Nothing up here looks even vaguely like that. =)

the crosshatched one? it's a cabbage palm (or sabal palm)... a closeup of the bottom can be found here - http://hort.ifas.ufl.edu/gt/1Under%20development/Cabbage%20Palm/CabbagePalm006.htm

it's actually a base of dead leaf stalks around the young trees... when they get to a certain size, the stalks fall off, and look like regular palm trees. it's a beautiful natural symmetry .

That's just beautiful...such a perfect pattern the dead leaf stalks make on the trunk. Thanks for the close-up picture, too. Definitely a shortage of palm trees in these parts! *laugh*

True, though you have to get about 500 miles north of here to see them....therefore, I've never seen one!

But we have moose...and I imagine they're rather scarce in Florida. *laugh*
