Florida Mayor bans Satan

An interesting proclamation. What struck me was the incantation-like tone of the document, and ritual aspect involved in posting it: "Northbound trucks on U.S. 19 pass one of four wooden posts erected on the roads leading into Inglis. The posts were painted with the words, Repent, Request and Resist. Each post was hollowed out and in it placed a copy of the official proclamation."

What's been happening in town of Inglis, Florida, to prompt this? I'd like to see what got those wheels turning.

Anyone who says "It's almost like Christians don't have rights anymore" ought to try being a Muslim these days.

Eh, it's just a variation on the nuttiness that last decade had some California towns passing "nuclear-free zone" ordinances.

And not just California. Garrett Park, Maryland, is a nuclear-free zone.

We drove through Garrett Park all the time when I was a kid, and I always wondered whether the sign meant that it was illegal to nuke Garrett Park (so aim those ICBMs accordingly a few miles south and watch that fallout pattern) or whether Garrett Park had taken a stand against the installation of missile silos in the town (which of course was highly likely for a suburb of Washington, DC, right?). I never did get an answer, and I think the signs are still there.

"And, lo! It came to pass that all Microsoft programs in all the computers in the town ceased to function, yea, even to function in their usual buggy state, and the town was cleansed of Windows."

But, seriously, folks.

If all those detested behaviors fail to vanish from the town, will the locals consider it evidence that those behaviors are not, in fact, Satanic; or will they merely conclude that the mayor is not, in fact, in touch with God?

That is Spinful.

The hairdo and the mix of Christian and the Elvis worship, yet these people criticise goths...

The Mayor has held the post for 10 years and only now banishes satan.....what was she doing before, kissing his arse..

One wonders what caused the rush of blood to the Mayor's head and hopes it does not occur often..

Let me guess...Living in a gold fish bowl where the water never changes leads to things becoming cloudy and full of shit...gold fish aren't known for much...and in the neighbouring gold fish bowl did the town of Salem, population 1,400 Satanist, banish Jesus...
