I like both 4 and 8, very peaceful colours - and any of the red or yellow ones are too bright for me.

My fave colours normally are the warm ones - reds, yellows and orange - but not to read!! Too harsh on the eyes.

I lean to forest greens and earth tones, but prefer a nice contrast, too. :)

Mmmm - you didn't have a deep forest green there - that with white writing would get my vote!! I love deep greens.

I hear ya. I think I'm leaning to earthy ones now, dark forest greens, rusts and oranges.

My own preference is white on black with bits and pieces in red or yellow. Does it have to be with such strong colours and not a nice shade of one of them?

I was sort of generalising... I think that I prefer a variance, too

Have to be honest... I don't really care for any of those combinations.

I like white text on black. The text always seems to be a bit sharper (especially with Verdana) and pretty much any color goes all right over Black.

I use that scheme for my MUD character's player page (http://thealissars.tripod.com). Works out pretty well. I can use some nice purples and greens to accent certain words. Blue on black looks great, too. Light sky blue. Yup.

If I *had* to pick one of the available options, it would be 4 :\

Just thinking about this again... you need something that's not so glaring on the eyes, especially when it comes to prolonged use. Using primaries is bad for that, since they can literally 'hurt' after a while. Bright colours need to be used sparingly. White text on a black background is the easiest for the eyes, though I generally go for a very light grey on black, just to help cut down on the glare. If you're going to stick to primaries, use duller shades of them perhaps? It's easier on the eyes.

good thoughts. I'm working with more dark greens and creams, burnt orange.
