oh, we would just sit there and giggle about them. tourists in gettysburg wear stuff i wouldn't even wear on vacation. plus, they're really, really, really horrible drivers. including stuff like stopping in the middle of the road suddenly on battlefield ground to do things like point at trees (to cite a specific example).
there is this rocky one that has a statue of lincoln where you're supposed to rub his nose for luck. his nose is all shiny and the rest of him has been eaten away by acid rain. we liked to go there a lot - lots of places to climb and look over the countryside.
when i was a teenager they took down another lincoln statue and put up one of him with "john q public". it was right on the town square right by a bunch of bars, and drunk people would regularly walk up and hug or grab onto lincoln.
the absolute worst thing that could happen to a local in gettysburg was to be mistaken as a tourist. :) at least the tourist industry meant that we had a way higher per capita on restaurants than the average rural small town...
