even just 100 years ago people usually stayed in the same area they were born in (minus the pioneers), didn't they? there was so much more obligation to family ties due to extended families...
I have lived in this very apartment my entire life, minus the four years I was away at college (but my stuff was still here, so I still count it as "living here"). I have not moved one square inch away from where I lived as a child.
The only reason I don't live closer to my birthplace is that that is the nearest hospital to my hometown!
Before I moved to northern California, I lived within less than a mile of the building in which I was born, except for one month. The building was a maternity hospital which was later converted to what used to be called a rest home. I haven't been back to that neighborhood in years, but, if the place is still there, and remains few years longer, I suppose that I could check in and end up dying in the same room that I was born in. I've always sort of liked that idea.
This is weird like "Flying Bird" I am living within a mile of the hospital where I was born - I have lived other places but end up here (Mt Eden/Epsom).
On acount of demographics the Hospital has developed a hospice that handles exits as well - so maybe I will be leaving from their as well...
