I just wanted you all to know.

my middle name is Prescott.

Now you know why I go by Scotto.

My first name, Gregory, I share with my father, and his. That, too, is why I go by Scotto.

What's your middle name?

How cool! I had no idea! I mentioned this on my LJ a few days back, but my middle name is Elise. Mom wanted me to be Katherine Elizabeth, but she felt it was too long, so she chopped Elizabeth down, and voila! Elise. I like.

ooh. that is lovely. How'd I miss that? It scans so well! What was the origin of Cider as a nick, by the way?

*leaning back into old leather chair* Well, the story of my nick goes back to 1994 (yipe!). Actually, it's an insanely boring story. I was on a telnet talker (lambdaMOO, for anyone who knows it), and I was signed on as a guest. I had been talking with these two guys all night, and they encouraged me to sign up with a real name. Katherine was taken, Kat was taken...I'm really not much of a nickname kinda girl...so they asked what I was doing at the time. I was sitting at the computer drinking cider. Um.

TA-DA! *insert raucous applause*

Yep, it's that boring. I know.

Aha! well, that's another mystery solved! A fine and dandy nickname it is, too!

Lamda MOO... is that the one that had eliza wandering around as a bot?

Is it a family name, or just because it sounded nice?

I think my mom just liked how it sounded after Jennifer. I don't know any relatives named Lee, anyhow. :)

Krystal Dawn.

I asked my mom how she and my dad came up with my name once. She went into this long story about how she and my dad were watching a romantic sunrise on the east coast when they came up with it. my mom has never been to the east coast. not only that, but at the time of my conception, my older siblings were 1 and 2 years old. i doubt mom and dad would have been able to jaunt off to the east coast for a romantic weekend. liars!!

oh...and if i would have been a boy, my name would have been brian michael. good thing i wasn't a boy.

how spiffy! that's a great story :) I got my name, because of tradition. First born son gets the tag. I'm just a genetic postmark :)

I was going to be a Craig. I'm glad I was born a girl, too. Craig Carlson sounds like the ultimate realtor's name. Or a guy who sells car insurance.

Craig Carlson? that's like a super villian, or someone in superman comics, anyhow.

Lex Luthor
Clark Kent
Lana Lang
Lois Lane

Nice alliteration, anyhow.

Jae.

It comes from the letter j which is the beginning of my Dad's middle name. My first name begins with the same letter as my mom's first name!

I completely love my middle name too by the way!

That's the first time I've heard that name spelled that way... Sakes, I guess all the girs get the swell names, while we boys get just the sort of blah ones.

I guess it could've been worse.

I have a cousin Heinz. And another cousin Socrates. Yipe!

I think you mighta seen it in my jouranl-thingy that there's a fella what works up at the Beauty Parlor named Prescott Twist.he's a pretty ok fella although Granma said under no circumstances was i to go on one o them campin trips he told me about.

His Momma does a whole lotta work with our Church.

*cough*
From: [identity profile] darktrain.livejournal.com
Oh i knowd that!

*giggle*

Precott Twist has shiny blonde hair kinda styled like that Farrah Fawcett lady an i can see that your hair is kinda darker...unless its that Alien Gas ,what's behind that glass you is always pressin on, (i warned ya bout that remember?) that's makin yer hair appear darker to my human eyes...
From: [identity profile] scottobear.livejournal.com
nope, i'm a natural brown-haired fellow.

otherwise it wouldn't match my beard...

From: [identity profile] darktrain.livejournal.com
well i'm sure ifn yer hair didn't match yer beard Prescott Twist,he's that fella what works up at the Beauty Parlor, could fix ya up real nice-like.

He does my hair sometimes but Granma gimme this last haircut.

she sez it makes me look 'rugged'

*cough*

OK, it's Elizabeth. But it is totally meaningless because by the time I came along they had used up all of the important names.

mark jude... very hemmingwayish... abrupt, to the point.

sounds like 'hut hut' when I say it aloud.

are either of them short for a longer name?

Markus Judas?
