Call me crazy if you like, but I'm about ready for a gigantic, sweeping resurgence of art nouveau decor. I want to live in a world where even the most trivial, everyday utensils are transformed into baroque sculptures of organic decadence interwoven with motifs of jellyfish and scandalously nude, full-figured women. I want more Toulouse-Lautrec prints! I want more Aubrey Beardsley! I want eating utensils sculpted to look like twigs with big slugs and dragonflies crawling all over them! Yeah! Bring on the revolution, baby!

Hmm.

Well, I said you can call me crazy if you like.

G'nite.

Crazy, but a good crazy. This country just doesn't appreciate the arts or aesthetics enough. It's nice to hear someone want artful things - especially when that person isn't an artist.

You made this artist smile : )

I love Art Nouveau; Catalan, Austrian, French, Scottish, Belgian, Brazilian, all of it. Each local variation was unique, but the style was so clearly international. It was a fascinating period in design. I even enjoyed its distant echo, the psychedelia of the 1960s.

likewise... actually, I think psychadelia is what bounced me over into art nouveau.

Haven't read the whole thing yet, but I did feel that I needed to bestow some feedback: Holy crapoly, your design is cool!! I'll have to come visit again sometime.

Thanks for popping in, you're welcome back.

Thanks for your knid words about the design...the person who did it has fantastic design sense, I agree!

Wacky Factoid - the orange kitty is named Newton, the city you're from.

One of the things I loved most about my recent trip to Barcelona was having a chance to walk through an appartment in the Pedrera - one of Gaudi's buildings, that was still done up as it would have been originally - down to the light fittings, paintings, crockery and cutlery.... fabulous stuff, and made me wish for a Nouveau slant to my life! At least there are still places you can see it all in its original state! :)

Stunning - we went through twice - it was too good to just see once! The overhead light in one of the rooms was fabulous - but I couldn't have it - it looked like a red and green version of Cthulu... scary, but looked brilliant!

Aww... you know I have a plush Cthulhu that I sleep with, next to Newt, right?

Eeeek, eeek, eek- no - I didn't know! Is that on the principle that anything that goes bump in the night is going to take one look at your bedtime companion and run the hell away??

You're a braver man than me! I've seen them at cons before - i liked the rainbow one - and a plaid one was cute - but the thought of 'what' it was would stop me - so no plush Cthulhu dolls for my littl'un!

aww

Newt likes to grab his squid face, and rake it's belly with his hind claws. :)

so, I'm safe.

oh, Newt bit the head off of one goblin, and the rest moved out.

He still patrols, though

I work on the 'Calvin' theory - they lie - we lie, so ours believe that we own flame throwers - we never know exactly how many there are under there at any one time... pregnant bladder is a bummer though - having to get up in the night hasn't been something I've needed to do before, so new strategies have had to come into play! It's a constant battle I tell ya! :)

Nice idea!! Hmmm - they aren't very bright - I might not even need to invest in spiked shoes - just say loudly as I put on my slippers - Boy I sure hope I don't make too much of a mess stomping goblins in these spiked shoes... that way they stay out of my way without the mess! :)

Zeb eats the edges and hides inside - she has one box we can't throw away, its now 'the' place for her to sleep.
