Electron Band Structure In Germanium, My Ass. I've handed in at least one essay exam much like this, except mine was on 19th century American Literature.

also - from TSG -

They sure do have a funny way of celebrating Independence Day in the City of Brotherly Love. A brochure detailing Philadelphia's 10-day Welcome America! festivities contains quite a gaffe in its "Kid's Corner" section. A word search puzzle--an alphabetical grid where terms like "flag" and "historic" are hidden--contains the word "nigga." Oops! According to the Philadelphia Daily News, Welcome America!'s ad agency blames free puzzlemaking software from Yahoo! for generating the inadvertant slur (right--the proofreader bears no responsibility). In addition to "nigga," TSG enigmatologists were able to quickly sleuth out three other offending words--all of which we've helpfully outlined in blue.

Bahahaah! That report remnds me of the dreaded Tractor Experiment in my 4th year Air Pollution Control course.
The idea, is to run a tractor, take a bunch of measurememnts and then create a combustion model that gives you the pollutant loads you measured.
It was total bull. First of all, the tractor kept stalling, and we didn't know what the fuel was. Well, actually, we knew it was gasoline, but do you know how many different chemicals can be in gasoline? And you can't know in what proportions, unless you work for the company that made it.
The whole thing was an exercise in frustration. And of course, the prof delighted in making you out to be an idiot.
Normally I loved lab work, but that experiment sucked big time. I wish I had had the guts (and the idea) to write a report like the one you linked. At least that part would have been fun.

I mean that I am assuming that most of the 'fill' letters are random, and if they do go through some kind of check, those aren't words. Not that you would find in any normal dictionary, anyway.

I find it doubtful that those words were put there intentionally.

I suspect some of the 3-letter words would.

Jap and Yid are harsh enough... nigga and ho probably wouldn't make the check, in my opinion.
