The short form of it is that there's a way to disguise non-text files as text files (actually, any file as another type of file) in Windows; when the user double-clicks it, it will execute as whatever real kind of file it is (e.g., a big whopping virus, or a trojan that just deletes everything on your computer, or whatever).

And to answer your question. I have Norton2001 on my W2K Pro machine. I downloaded and ran the test file. Norton did not pick it up. It does not meet any virus definitions therefore it wont pick it up. The test file was an .html file. More like a batch file. It opened up a command prompt and a nice little text box letting me know it had just opened up the command prompt.
