Scottobear doesn't deserve to be raked across the coals. He's done nothing wrong. Period. If he's ever given anyone his password, it certainly wasn't me.

I'm on hiatus from LJ for a while, but this was called to my attention by some friends, and I wanted to address it. I don't mind sitting by and letting myself be badmouthed, but I'm not about to let it happen to a perfectly innocent person.

As for the clamouring to know who *did* give me the password - I'm sorry, but that is not going to happen. If the person comes forward of their own accord, that's fine, but it is not my right to out anyone.

so, can we let this all drop?

Penny *is* prone to lies, but the FBI has instructed me to avoid contact with her (as if that was a concern!). The situation has raised a lot of issues, and presented me with great opportunities, but it's all a bit overwhelming which is why I have not made any public comments over this mess. I will say, though, that I did suspect you, but I suspected a lot of people. Eventually I suspected everyone. I don't know how much I am allowed to say now that there is a federal investigation in process, but I will say that I *do* think it is her *obligation* to out the individual who violated my trust. This whole Lakme v. Krussell v. Scotto thing, not to mention a lot of other grief, could have been avoided if she'd just cop to it. It's not like she has anything to lose.

I'm truly sorry that this finger-pointing thing got so out of hand, I only have the cranial capacity to deal with so many things at once and, to be honest, real life stuff takes priority over LJ drama.
