Mar. 16th, 2001 07:27 pmOk. I just registered for a permanent account with LJ. (My treat to myself for getting off my backside and actively interviewing around... besides, I really enjoy this place.) I have about 6 months left on my current year-long account, which was donated to me by a very generous benefactor. In the spirit of my first gift, I'm going to give those 6 months to the most personally compelling reason why they'd like to have them (if nobody asks for it, I'll toss the time into the menstrual hut community, that seems to be a bennie, and then it can be tweaked a bit more)
So, here's how it'll work. Just ask! (preferably 500 words or less... ) The one that tugs at my heartstrings the most, gets it. If you prefer, you can e-mail me in private, and I'll keep your entry private... or just reply here, and display to the world why... maybe you'll move some other soul to get you one, if not me! :)
I'll leave this post up for a week.. and on March 24, 2001, I'll post who won.

Date: 2001-03-16 06:40 pm (UTC)1) I looked at the payment area and can't find permanent account, only the 2, 6 12 ones. Where do you find the permanent account info, please?
2) Why not find some sweet kid that can't afford it, like one of your young teenaged fans and give it to them. I know of at leasts two girls that are too young to have bank accounts to pay through that would LOVE to have paid accounts (diamond_dogs and mandapandawong) Both are junior high kids that really love LJ and can't afford the paid statis.

I second this motion!
Date: 2001-03-16 07:16 pm (UTC)Have you ever chanced upon something in life so beautiful that you can never deny how lovely a gift life is for having experienced it?
I know someone who takes the pains and heartbreaks of life and turns them into a sweet shade of wonder, takes a harrowing, hollowing life and turns it into a sort of contentment? From under the rubble of tragedy, the strong strive to stand, and do, becoming a beacon and heroine for all those whose eyes are turned to the skies for a champion – a goddess of the Earth who they can worship.
I would like to nominate Muse for your Paid LJ Account Donation.
The first time I read her journal, I was so moved by words spun together so delicately that even the finest of lace turned envious – few things touch me as poetic prose on a page, and Muse sends her light out through her words. She inspires me with her survival, reaches to my heart and sparks a revival of love – no, lust for life.
If you read any of her entries, I recommend you read this one, which touched me the most: she wrote of her cello on Monday, January 29th where she writes a letter to her cello which she had to sell just to pay for school.
She loves Haiku, and has written beautiful poetry.
The first time I read a Muse entry on October 2, 2000 was the day I decided to really start writing in my LJ with any frequency at all.
Many things that are lovely are lost, but I would like to see the lovely Muse perpetuated and allowed to grow, and maybe a paid account would lead to that.
I feel a little bad for speaking on her behalf, behind her back, but … I saw String Literal’s nomination, and I want her to have a paid account infinitely more than I want me to have one. I mean – maybe she doesn’t want a paid account. But … just in case she does. I’ll try to send her an e-mail and see.
Thank you!
Julie/Razz
PS – Whoever gets it, I agree with the majority – it should go to someone who needs it, and a younger someone who can’t cover the cost but who finds solace in writing should have it! You’re such a very cool person for sponsoring somebody!
