Why isn't 'uck' a word? I sort of like it... you can say it, and it might be a bad word... it might be yuck... people will hear what they want to hear.

Maybe it can go into those 'three letter words' like Ick, or Ack! ... good interjections that don't do anything aside from expressing disdain.

i agree !
UCK absolutely belongs in the EEK family...along with its brothers and sisters:
ACK
ICK
EEP
OPP
ORP
BAH
POO
WOO
GOO!(has to have the exclamation to convey the message)
HUH
DUH
YEP

anymore ?

well...

Well, Tom Leykis uses the word "uck" in place of the word "fuck" on the radio. That's sort of using it, eh?

While I wouldn't campaign against the use of "uck" myself, I do think I'd find myself more frequently using either "ick" or "ugh," depending on the circumstances. To me, those words seem more... pointed.

My personal favorite three-letter words to express disgust and disdain are "guh," "gah," and "feh."

"schwa"

I made up a word
"schwa"
it's five-letter jazz
and kickass brilliance
soothing when it's heard
better than "best" or "awesome"
it blossoms off the tongue
and falls like rose petals on puddles
after the rain
it's energy that moves like arrows
fresh from their bows
and it is respite from the mundane
it's a sane sound that grooves
a synergy of sight and mind
i am so lovin' schwa

Hee hee, "schwa" -- pronoucned "shh-wahhh." I make up my own words all the time, but not all of them get a freestyle poem, too. ;>

schwa is a 'real word' too! it's that upsidedown lowercase e you'll see in some dictionary pronounciation guides.

beauty poem! :)
