Smithsonian – Art / Video Games
May. 5th, 2011 03:18 pmThe Smithsonian American Art Museum has decided to honor the 40-year evolution of video games as an artistic medium. Yes, the Smithsonian considers video games to be art. The exhibit will be called The Art of Video Games and will be on display from March 16, 2012 until September 30, 2012. The museum sought gamers’ opinions; anyone could vote to narrow down the pool of 240 games. Today they announced the 80 games that made the cut. Some of the titles that will be honored are games that you’re still playing like Mass Effect 2, Minecraft and Fallout 3. Keep reading to see all the games that will be on display.

On top of this mega-list of games that were voted on by the public, there will also be five games available to play. These games were chosen by the museum, not voters. Visitors of the exhibit will get a few minutes to play each of these titles:
