Updated my blog.scottobear.com site with a more colorful choice for spring – I may fiddle with it some more, I may not, but it needs tweaking. Depends on my mood… I might add more dark colors to make the photos easier to view, a stark opposite of my LJ page.

What the poop? On my ride in to work this morning, I noticed a CSX train loaded with Molten sulfur at least 30 tanks of the stuff. Now I’m wondering what needs that much of that particular chemical…and how hot does sulfur have to stay to remain molten?[update - quick Google search says that melting point is at 240 degrees Fahrenheit (115 degrees c) and that black gunpowder, rubber vulcanization, the manufacture of insecticides and pharmaceuticals, and in the preparation of sulfur compounds such as hydrogen sulfide and sulfuric acid all use it - and sulfur can be packed on a train with insulation and heating coils to prevent too much cooling.] I’ve seen that supply train go by before, and very frequently.
