The backyard cornucopia strikes again!
veggie mania
More from the garden. Pumpkin, squash, a ton of white eggplant, some skinny purple and green eggplant, tomato and cucumber. Nice mix of colors in the back yard!

BHK made pseudo-chicken in cream sauce with peas over a bed of egg noodles... side of green beans in sesame oil. yummmy goodness.

Middleman - titanic tuba episode is maintaining quality nicely.

http://rolcogames.com/ -cool site for pawns, little meeples, whatnot. The Game inventor kit is brilliant.

Matt Thompson has some advice for you: stop buying cheap-ish pseudo-generic drugs from Walgreens, Rite-Aid, and Duane Reade and start buying really cheap true generics.

As you might know, Benadryl (available at Walgreens.com for $5.29 for a box of 24 capsules) and Wal-dryl ($3.99 / 24 capsules) are otherwise known as "25 mg. of diphenhydramine HCI." Compare [with the true generic available at Amazon]. Yes, that is 400 tablets containing 25 mg. of diphenhydramine HCI, for about $10 when you factor in shipping.

Heed his words. Here's 300 tablets of generic Claritin for $11.00, 100 tablets of generic Zyrtec for $6.99, 240 tablets of generic Zantac, 1000 capsules of generic Benadryl for $20.34, 1000 tablets of generic Advil for $11.70, and 1000 caplets of generic Tylenol for $13.91.

Seek the Six - New Prisoner "puzzle" promo. Fairly slow loading a the start, but nifty. (I am number 952805... apparently it's not news to most!)

wow, nicely done farmer scotto, beautiful veggies all!
Mom just passed by as I was reading and saw the white eggplants..(she's jealous! hahaa) she told me to tell you that they are delicious if you brown them lightly in olive oil, then let them cool and spoon yogurt and garlic sauce over them and eat it with pita bread. it's one of my favorites and something I would eat as a kid because i didn't like eating the eggplant dishes with meat in them. i think you'll like it.
the sauce is 1 or 2 cloves of garlic and some black pepper in about a cup of plain yogurt and stir it til it's fairly smooth. (add as much pepper or garlic according to how spicy you like it.)
the yogurt has to be plain or it will be disgusting. yogurt sauce is my go to when I want something fast and easy, it can be eaten over pasta, dipped with veggies and pita, anything really. you can even put slices of cucumbers in it and then it's basically greek tziki sauce. it'd handy and delicious!

nice heads up on the meds, i didn't know that. we'll have to stock up on our next trip. Sas goes through claritine like there's no tomorrow.

I think the white eggplants look like baroque pearls---sometimes I just stand in the garden and fondle them they are so pretty. Of course all the neighbors think I'm nuts!!

Thanks for the recipe! Lately I've been on a greek taste kick and I've been adding just a touch of cinnamon to the eggplant when I brown them with the garlic. Makes them taste a bit like moussaka filling! Drooooool!

The generic search opened my eyes

Scottoa - it's Misti - wanted to pass along my many thanks. I occasionally am able to get on an take a peek at your blog - often times wishing I had more time to check out the many links that you provide. In this entry you post about searching for generic meds on amazon - I thought, "Now, this is one that could save me a ton of $$$". So, the other day I go searching for my generic sleep aid. I've been taking the for quite some time, otherwise I'm up till 2-3am.

Now as an important side note here - since I've moved to Richmond I've had terrible allergies - never had them before until I moved to Richmond. So bad, that the doctors had to put me on the highest dose of both Zyrtec & Cingulair to keep them under control... in the past few months they've been getting worse...

So, my sleep aid bottle is almost empty, I hit amazon.com and pull the active drug name and am amazed at how much I will save - yeah for me. But then it hit me....

All this time I've been overdosing myself on allergy medication - I realize that Kroger uses generic benadryl and markets it as it's generic sleep aid! So, I've promptly switched to another sleep aid and have been dealing w/ coming down off the allergy meds.

So, thanks again! Your post came in very handy!
