That Meme -

Post 3 things you've done in your lifetime that you don't think anybody else on your friends list has done. See if anybody else responds with "I've done that." If they have, you need to add another. Have your friends cut & paste this into their journal to see what unique things they've done in their life.

1.  met my wife as a result of livejournal. (and honeymooned by visiting a whole mess of the ripley's believe it or not museums up and down the east coast - from St. Augustine, FL  to Myrtle Beach, SC)

1. became a vegetarian on the 5th of july, 1990. (still do dairy and eggs - now crustaceans, too. )

2. discovered (after we broke up) that one of my ex-girlfriends was married and had kids the entire time we were romantically entangled.

3.adopted 2 cats, despite a strong allergy to them. (Fortunately, I'm used to Newt and Pye now!)
3. Helped recover hundreds of missing kids and elderly/confused adults (most just wander-offs, but at least six real kidnappings) over the course of three and some years.

Students studying computing in the UK and US are outsourcing their university coursework to graduates in India and Romania. Work is being contracted out for as little as £5 on contract coding websites usually used by businesses. Students are outsourcing everything from simple coursework to full blown final year dissertations. It's causing a major headache for lecturers who say it is almost impossible to detect.

The irony of course is that if they actually get jobs in the sector, this will be how they actually work anyway.

Another Mummy movie coming out, in two months? I didn't even know it was being filmed! Looks like no Rachel Weisz though. That's not really a big loss - I liked her in the first film, but she sort of bleemed out on the sequel for me.

That, and I didn't hear about the new Blood Bowl game. I'm really out of the entertainment loop lately! At least I can have a good violent Dwarfs vs Lizardmen football combat game before end of year.

Bill Clinton has offered his support to Barack Obama. When asked about his attacks on Obama during the primaries, Clinton remarked, “It depends on what your definition of ‘hollow, fork-tongued, naïve, flip-flopping little diaper baby’ is.”

Re: your #2 unique thing. Um, wow! How did you react to that??

poorly! but I was relieved to be out of that relationship once I knew I'd really dodged that situation entirely. I was pretty disgusted that I was that oblivious and that lied to - but I think it helped to make me a better person, and I ultimately met and wed someone that's as true to me and mine as I am to her and hers!

somebody is behind on tv/radio/internet promotion on that one... I think I like the look of the mummy movie over the 3-d journey to the center of the earth flick, but 3-d is a great equalizer.

"discovered (after we broke up) that one of my ex-girlfriends was married and had kids the entire time we were romantically entangled."

WTH! That's horrible. :| You don't have to answer if you don't want to. Was this the LJ girlfriend (that I had on my list back then, too), or the one from Brazil (I think?) who had a phobia of a certain, giant insect?

I've had a secret shoe and lipgloss collection the whole time we've been married and I feel as if I had to get rid of my shoes it'd be liking trying to get rid of a child!!! :D

So there's that......

Is Scott one of those boys whose all, 'What the hell do you need another pair of shoes for? you only need ONE pair!" type o' guys? Ha. ;)

I don't have a ton of shoes, but if somebody asked me to name a number, I couldn't off the top of my head. :P

From: [identity profile] scottobear.livejournal.com
Nah, I'm not. I get a bit incredulous at times, but I have my own collecter-quirks, so I understand the need for shoes, even if a person might *never* wear 'em. :)

I DO wear my shoes---If I can find them in the closet!! :D

He understand the need for quality footwear but it isn't the first thing he seeks out if he has extra money to burn---it isn't the last thing he seeks out either---actually he waits for me to go "Honey OMG I found a two fer sale on New Balance and they have you size and I got you four pairs!!" But that's cool cause its like having my own life size Ken doll to dress!

Who wants to dress ken, when barbie has most of the cool outfits, though??

That said, you have an awesome eye for sales and style. You are amazing!! x0x0x0x

"adopted 2 cats, despite a strong allergy to them."

I've adopted 5 cats despite a strong allergy to them, plus taking care of many more stray/ferals (not gonna admit in public just how many) outside. Does that count, or does it have to be exactly 2? :P I've turned into the flipping allergy queen.

The way I worded it seems boastful, it's SO not. It's actually scary to me. I just want to hear more interesting stuffs you've done. :0)

hah! you got me there. I figure the number extraneous to the actual spirit of the answer. What do you take for allergies, or do you just push through?

I fear you may know all of the interesting stuffs about me!

Date: 2008-06-28 01:30 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] juliabee.livejournal.com
- I wash my hands A LOT, which really helps. Forgetting gets me into all sorts of allergy trouble.

- If I nuzzle them via my face in their fur, I often rinse my face off within about 15 minutes (or else), and even rinse the inside of my nose. Ha.

- I also wipe their fur down at times with a moist washcloth or paper towel. It seems to really help, compared to when I don't do it at all. Yeah, they freak out about it at times...but too bad, so sad! ;)

If things get really sneezy/runny, I just take generic allergy meds. The above precautions really help, though.

However, if you meet me...you might notice I clear my throat kind of often. That's because of the cat allergies. :/

Date: 2008-06-28 01:47 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] juliabee.livejournal.com
Oh! More things that might help you:

If a major sneezy/runny nose allergy comes on, I try to take take something for it ASAP. The sooner the better. The longer I wait to take a pill, the harder it is to control my allergy.

Also, my doctor mentioned I shouldn't allow the cats to sleep with me, or lounge on the bed *all day*...and my allergies would probably lessen. He said to especially not let them lay on my pillows. With any of those things, your face can be pressed into cat dander for 8 hours per night..and you're screwed. ;)

I trained them off the pillows, but they still sleep in the bed because I'd miss them too much. I wash the bedding constantly, and am thinking of getting duvets. That way I can just slip them off to wash easily, rather than stuffing whole quilt/comforters in the wash & ruining them.

zyrtec helps me out - I'm glad it's over the counter, now! I think my allergy shots are making a difference, too.
