Slept in a bit this morning... vacation day!!

family sleepin' in

Our neighbor's wife passed away the first of December, last year... BHK just found out about it midweek. We've invited him over for dinner next week (we initially were going to do it Wednesday, but he begged off), and are bringing him some tidbits here and there. I can't imagine losing someone that close and having to go it alone.

Last night after work, BHK and I went to Red Robin to eat while we decided on which movie to see... we were torn between two critically paned stinkers - 10,000 BC and Superhero Movie. We consumed tasty items, while watching a girl in a robin suit greet the kiddies... businss was booming for a thursday night... and continued to the Borders where we meandered andshopped a bit. Picked up a new Zagat's guid to DC and Baltimore, and a collapsable tote for BHK... fit sin a teensy keychain pouch. I teased her a little unmercifully about it, but she took it in stride. Visted the Kayak / Outdoor store and came close to getting another pair of crocs or two... army green shoes with day-glo orange straps, but sadly, they didn't have my mammoth foot size in stock. BHK passed on keanes, too.

Eventually, we settled on superhero movie... bought the tickets, and changed our minds. So, we saw 10,000 BC. It didn't stink too badly, and was entertaining in its way.

Guest Doodles supplied by BHK: (when she sees me messing with the palmtop, she always wants a turn.) Seems she always accuses me of gassiness, but this time it was true.

bhk's view of last night...ate at red robin- via bhk

How is Red Robin anyway? They have veggie burgers, right? Josh and I generally avoid chain restaurants but when we're in the east Madison mall area, there aren't many options and we always seem to wind up at the Panera across the street from Red Robin. But I'm getting sick of the same two things I always get at Panera and I can't seem to talk Josh into trying Red Robin. He's a fussbudget.

Incidentally, he has those awful army green/orange Crocs. He had to special order them (freaky big foot thing, just like you) and I only permitted the purchase because he promised he would never wear them outside of the confines of our house/yard. Like Josh and his irrational fear of chain restaurants, I am convinced that plastic shoes are tools of Satan. Or, at the very least, they're just the ugliest shoes ever....especially in a size 13.

Yeah, the 13s here didn't have enough give for my monster 15 gunboats.

they have veggie burgers (and turkey burgers, if you do fowl).

pretty yummy.. I got mine with a lettuce-leaf bun rather than bread this time... trying to do something acceptable to at least play at countering the mound o'fries that comes with.

I think crocs are so ugly that they're cute! Makes me feel like a little kid or clown to wear 'em.

No fowl...just the very occasional fishy meal (which is why my old standby at Panera is the tuna salad sammich).

IMHO, only little kids look cute in Crocs. Oscar's g-dad in Ft Worth sent him a "Texas Longhorns" pair in the most hideous shade of brick orange.....egad. I suppose I'll have to let him wear them someday. But, for now, they're on his teddybear.

I dunno. I didn't mind them back when the only place you could get 'em was the canoe/kayak store and you only ever saw 'em on sporty hippies. I can see where they're be really handy for paddle sports (although I personally prefer my Tevas). And Josh likes his for messy yardwork because he can just hose them off. But they're just not a real "fashion statement" as far as I'm concerned. Unless the statement you're trying to make is "I've completely given up trying to look presentable and goofy orange clown shoes are the best I can do..."

OMG I was in heaven last night! I wanted a big juicy burger (I'm having vitamin deficiencies that make me CRAAAAAVE things---and well dammit I wanted meat). I got a turkey burger on lettuce leaf "bun" with pineapple, cheddar, avocado slices and mayo mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! That thing was so juicy---make me want another one just thinking about it. The fries and onion rings were---eh---nice enough but the burgers are really good. One step above Johnny Rockets.

The thing about 10,000 B.C. is that with another pass or two at the writing it might have actually been good, as it is, it was it just OK,. The plot was fine, the acting was surprisingly good and it had good production values, but it just didn't come together, and the ending was a kinda anticlimactic.

you know, you're absolutely right. A little spit and polish would've gone a long way to improving the film.

I loved the boats.

Hey who is that brunet you in bed with in that drawing? Better not let BHK know.

Oh he's getting suck a razzing about Salma Hayek today---I swear he's gonna wish he'd never mentioned her name.

(Razzing usually consists of me putting on a bad accent and saying really horrbly stupid things.)

there's a red robbin outside of the city. you have to have a car to get to it. theres probably a bus that goes there but it takes 2 hours by bus to get to the nearby mall so i'm sure it would take that amt of time to get there.

it's a shame 10k bc is not that great. i didn't have high hopes for it but i hoped i'd be wrong. :(
