I'm officially a year into Maryland. It surely doesn't seem that long. I haven't ventured outside of the immediate region of MD / DC / VA since then. I'd like to do a deeper tour of outer-edge day trip plans. Places like Philadelphia, Boston and New York aren't too far out for a little getaway. BHK and I still plan on taking a little journey through a bit of American history by way of National Treasure... possibly taking Adam along if he would like and has the time.

I've been to the Natural History part of the Smithsonian, but haven't tackled American History (under renovations until 2008) or Air & Space. Both are pretty high on my list... and there are thousands of exhibits. I'm curious about the National Zoo and Aquarium, as well. The Monuments are pretty spiffy.. though I still haven't done a read visit to Jefferson yet. The Zero Milestone is something of interest - I should tag it with my gps, just for fun.

I rode into work this morning with BHK... We discussed a variety of topics, from Presidential Candidates to Cloris Leachman. (Facts of Life Version vs Phyllis/Mary Tyler Moore version vs Young Frankenstein.) See also Betty White on MTM / Golden Girls / Lace Placid.

Today we had a nice going away party for SB-P. Folks at this gig can be very kind to their coworkers. Also discussed was the Holiday Party on 12/14. It's at the Sheraton, not too far off from the main building. The ERC has a few games and events planned, and it sounds like it'll be a lot of fun. From what I understand, spouses can come, and if I bring BHK, she won't be the only non-employee there. There's a cookie contest... I wonder what our odds are of winning could be, if we made preacher cookies? (Sort of a chocolate vibe holding oats together... really yummy.)

BHK wasn't feeling too well when she picked me up, so instead of dining out, we swung by Jerry's to grab a sammich and some fries. My leg was bothering me, too, so I was pretty happy to get back home and just unkink a bit. We went to the treehouse for a little while, and BHK snoozed while I watched a tivoed episode of My Name is Earl and Chuck... both were pretty entertaining. I ate most of my Jerry's in the car on the ride home, but BHK got some great groceries... horseradish cheese on a whole grain bun with spicy-sweet mustard did the trick nicely.

The American History and Air and Space museums are my favorites! Definitely check them out when you get a chance (or when it reopens). I really want to visit the A&S annex at Dulles Airport. I hear it's also wonderful.
