'Second Earth' found, 20 light years away
I'm rather surprised that you have to pay Wii points to get the internet channel, (it was free until the end of June 2007, while in beta) but you get news and weather for free. I am sort of digging everybody votes - and that was free, too. The browser will probably be the first thing I drop points on... not like I really need it, with I don't know how many connective devices in the house. PDA, PSP, X number of laptops, and Big Brain.
Contrary to my original belief, the points aren't given as rewards for doing well, but can only be purchased. Pfth.
I'll be interested to see what Newtcam and my LJ reading list looks like on the big tv.
BHK got Wii Play (good excuse to get another wii remote, and I'm a sucker for minigames - see Wario) - a lot of fun. I like the billiards game the most.
I suspect that our next few Wii purchases will be one or two of the following:

It will allow one to migrate or move blogs from LiveJournal, Blogger, WordPress and publish to LiveJournal, Blogger, Windows Live Spaces, WordPress - or possibly clone a blog.

I'm going to test it out on my own server - just to see how it runs. I'm not leaving LJ, but it's nice to know I can run a backup.
I'd like to get a shave with a straight-razor with my next haircut.

Scientists have discovered a warm and rocky "second Earth" circling a star, a find they believe dramatically boosts the prospects that we are not alone.
The planet is the most Earth-like ever spotted and is thought to have perfect conditions for water, an essential ingredient for life. Researchers detected the planet orbiting one of Earth's nearest stars, a cool red dwarf called Gliese 581, 20 light years away in the constellation of Libra.
Measurements of the planet's celestial path suggest it is 1½ times the size of our home planet, and orbits close to its sun, with a year of just 13 days. The planet's orbit brings it 14 times closer to its star than Earth is to the sun. But Gliese 581 burns at only 3,000C, half the temperature of our own sun, making conditions on the planet comfortable for life, with average ground temperatures estimated at 0 to 40C. Researchers claim the planet is likely to have an atmosphere. The discovery follows a three-year search for habitable planets by the European Southern Observatory at La Silla in Chile.

- Warioware
- Wii Fit (good excuse to work out)
- Trauma Center
- SSX Blur (BHK is super SSX powered.)
- Godzilla Unleashed - Got to love the 'zilla.
- Marvel Ultimate
- Any Destroy All Humans games that come our way.
- SPORE ! if it ever decides to appear.

Date: 2007-10-18 06:27 pm (UTC)Everybody needs at least one more controller, why not pay $10 more and get some more games. Some are admittedly not so great, but come on, for $10 there have to be at least a few you like.
The billiards game is nice. I like the tanks one, but only when playing with the nunchuk doohickey, I find it too hard to do using just the regular controller.
Mel spent a day (or more) totally dominating the fishing game. I think it's OK with one player, but completely fails with two, since one person catching a fish changes the screen and makes it very hard for the other.
Then there's the surreal knitted cow racing. Not sure if I like it or not as far as playing it goes, but I have to admit being sorta drawn to it anyhow.
I need to look up our wii #.

Date: 2007-10-18 06:47 pm (UTC)The fishing game is *hard* with 2 player... as is the "find the pair" and the skeet shoot one... but the find the pair is a better challenge 2-up.

My TV's a bit small for 2-player cow racing, but it works.

Looks fun, and as an added bonus is $20.
According to Mel, our Wii # is:
