Celtic Fest was nice - mostly fun due to it being some private time with BHK walking around, and hanging out. Good food at Stoney s afterward. I was disturbed at the large number of Dixie / Confederacy fans... people proud to be descended from a team not known for many good qualities, at least as far as I know. Lots of secessionist types. Aside from that particular brand of historical mutant, there were a pretty wide assortment of kilt and bagpipe types that seemed quite nice and musically talented, to boot. On thing that was sort of odd was that the signs said follow the red lion but the lion looked like a monkey to bhk and me.

Misc pics from the day... we ate a ton of tasty food and had a delightful time just hanging out together.

Social Contract. That phrase is one I wish I knew back when I was gaming regularly. I think that would ve made for a made for a few really nice clarifications between different members of the assorted groups I ve been in. (found via this entry

Weird to get the Dixie types at a Celtic Fest, trying to remember if we got them at Renfaire’s in Florida. I went to the Texas Renfaire this year, for the first time in ten years and didn’t see any there, a surprising amount of Star Wars fans though, that and way too many folks who should NOT have been dressed only in loincloths and/or chain mail bikinis.
Of course out here those Dixie types get there own fests, like country music concerts and the daughters of the confederacy throw a week long fest somewhere on the outskirts of town every year.

I thought it a little odd, too. At least star wars fans tend to wear full armor!

I sometimes wonder about people that are into that stuff.. are they mostly racists, or are there a real percentage of folks that hold the other confederate ideals?

Sort of like the hemp kids.. how many want good cloth, and how many want to just get stoned?

Yeah no princess Leah slave girls at the Renfaire, just pseudo-medieval ones. Perhaps the most disturbing was mother and daughter pair in extremely sheer and skimpy belly dancer costumes, now granted those were in decent shape compared to many that I saw, the distubing part was the idea of of a mother getting all tramped out with her daughter.

I dunno, but I'd be willing to wager that the lions share of those "South Will Rise Again" types would be hard pressed to articulate any other Confederate ideals.

Much the same for the hemp kids, except maybe they've been "educated" on it a little better.
"Did you like know that many of out founder fathers grew hemp man?"
"I know dude, I like heard George Washington was like a total stonner."
