LJ has implemented thread tracking in journals other than your own, now. Pretty fascinating.. on the user info page, you can keep an eye peeled for all new entries by a user, or track threads. very handy. I wonder if the owner of the tracked journal is notified in any way?

The thread tracking link says it's "not ready". *pout* I think it's a good thing in that I often lose track of threads I'd like to read more of. But on the other hand if the originator or journal owner (besides a community) doesn't know they're being "watched" it might not be so good.

As it is if there's a thread I want to "watch" I just bookmark it. So I guess the originator/journal owner wouldn't know anyway would they?

the nicve thing about the tracking is that it'll email you any new changes.

I tried it and it worked. I like the functionality.

If someone doesn't want to be tracked they shouldn't make public posts. Presumably if someone posts something they want people to look at it, otherwise they'd post it filtered.

When I posted that I was thinking about the several people I've commented on their journal and they asked me who I was. I wasn't even sure how to answer that question. I just said how I found their journal. Sometimes I think people still don't realize that anyone can read any journal on the web if it's not filtered.

i went to the manage threads page, but it says "not ready". sounds interesting!

was in the cistine chapel around... 7 years ago. the ceiling had just been cleaned, and they left a small, UN-cleaned rectangle in one of the corners -- to show what it looked like before the cleaning. Wonder if they cleaned the dirty, example patch..or if it just doesn't show well in that photo.

YES! I was really surprised at the difference. Mentioned to my stepmom while we stood under it, that I was glad that we saw it post cleaning.
The un-cleaned spot, made it look as if it was near impossible to see the paintings before. It was all gray/brown -- with just faint bit of the colored painting showing through. We were told the employees left the un-un-cleaned patch up there for tourists -- because they knew we would be just as wow'd as they were.
