caution-jw
Not sure why this nice Jehovah's Witness was cordoned off with caution tape.
This guy has been in the same location every morning with literature for at least 4-5 years.
He has at least five different cowboy hats, and he's worn one whenever I've seen him.
(the cones and tape are new - his literature is laid out on top of the trash can.)

can you do anything with regular rechargeable batteries with the solar thingy? i spent so much time wishing i had rechargeables and a way to charge them last hurricane season...i don't have a cell phone or ipod, and i don't tend to take lots of pics when the power is out, but a way to recharge cd player, radio, and flashlight batteries might be worth the chunk-o-change...

I'm looking into it... lat hurricane, I recharged my cell phone and battery charger with my computer's UPS... (then dragged the ups to a region that had power.. it charges up pretty quickly, about 4 hours for a *lot* of juice... enough to run the box fan for about 16 hours, and charge up 8 AA batteries.

that's it. this season, i'm coming to your house! we were strictly old school here-candles, flashlights, coolers, and not enough batteries. i would have given my left pinkie toe for a working box fan...esp right after the first one. neighbors all have generators and the fumes blew right into my bedroom. blech.

works for me! Just make sure you can tolerate a nosy orange kitty!

I'm mostly worried about losing water this time 'round. I've started storing jugs as I go through juice and soda-pop.

as long as newt is a friendly as he is cute, i love cats.

are you in a condo? i had no problems with running water, it just wasn't drinkable...gotta go buy some...and start stocking batteries and dry goods and make sure we have an extra propane tank for the grill.

keep me posted on the solar thingy. i would love to have an eco-friendly alternative power source, but only if it will power things I need :P.

They have those solar panels at CanadianTire (the orginal wal-mart of canada, which started as an autoparts store and kind of... mutated) for people to use in the winter, instead of plugging the "block heater" of the car in. Didn't make all that much sense to me, as the sun tends to set at about 4:15 in the deepest of winter- if you're at work late, until 8 or 9, what good does it do?

maybe camoman cordoned him off- that may look like caution tape to you and me, but it's actually a blurfield theft deflection shield.

Hmm... odd way to present a podium. Do you think the tape and the man go together? Or just by chance something spilled in his claimed spot?

hard to say.. I don't know why he snuck in behind the tape!
