By the way, the correct way to sing it, as taught by my elementary school music teacher, the woman with the funny shoes, is:

had a very shiny nose [like a lightbulb]
used to laugh and call him names [like Pinocchio]
join in any reindeer games [like football]
Santa came to say [ho ho ho]
you'll go down in history [like Columbus]

So there you have it. You were all wrong. Don't you feel silly now.
