Wild weather last night... funnel clouds and waterspouts not too far from my ride home on the bus.. temperatures dropped to lovely coolness, too. Some sweet thunderstorms to lull me to sleep. Hopefully that'll keep the fire weather at a minimum.

Had some lovely chitty-chatty last night... IM niceness and Danny on the phone, too.

So now the alligators are going door to door. When Lori Pachelli heard someone knocking at the door of her home in a gated community in this southwest Florida community earlier this week, she looked out to see an unwelcome visitor on her front stoop: an 8-foot alligator.

The bull gator, which had wandered up from the pond behind the house, had a bloody lip from banging its head against the door.

"He was pretty big, pretty aggressive," Pachelli said, adding that the gator may have followed her home from walking her cocker spaniel, Trooper.

Pachelli's husband, Mike, said he sped home after his wife called him in hysterics. The animal remained at the Pachellis' door for about an hour before going back into the lake, where trapper John French captured it later.

French said it's not unusual to find male alligators in some pretty interesting places this time of year.

"You're starting into what's called the crawl season, the breeding season," he said. "We get them out of front porches, out of garages, out of swimming pools."

The Pachellis said they never dreamed an alligator would venture that close to the house.

"I've never seen them walking around (the neighborhood), let alone banging on my front door," Lori Pachelli said.

Moment of lyric (thanks, BHK! - mp3)

You go to my head
And you linger on and refrain
And I find it spinning round in my brain
Like a bubble in a glass of champagne

You go to my head
Like a sip of sparkling Burgundy Blue
And I find the very mention of you
Like a kicker in a Julip or two

CHORUS:
Oh the thrill of the thought
That you might give a thought
To my plea--Cast a spell over me
Still I said to myself: Get a hold of yourself
Can't you see it can never be

You go to my head
With a smile that makes my temperature rise
Like a summer with a thousand July's
You intoxicate my soul with your eyes
Though I'm certain that this heart of mine
Hasn't a ghost of a chance in this crazy romance
You go to my head, you go to my head
You go to my head

Friday, at last! Sakes, I thought it would never come. Now to just get the weekend to stick around a bit!

Got my copy of Black and White 2 from Dave, and have downloaded patches 1.1 and 1.2 for it... I suspect it'll make for some fun playing in the near future.

Getting all kinds of surprisingly good sounds about v for vendetta... I'll probably check it out this weekend... I went from dreading it to looking forward. a grand thing.

No letting Newti out for small jaunts at this time of year..he'd be a bitty-little orange cheeto snack for some big monster.
I couldn't help but think of the Saturday Night Live show with the land shark..*ding dong* "Who is it?" "Candy gram." Heeee.

nope....i think it's an issue with my realplayer. whenever I try to use it, it freaks out, gives error msg, and closes. work puter will not let me get the new one. grrrr.

It really was great. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, so I sat at my puter, with a silly grin and tears in my eyes. (that one played on windows media player here http://bostonpete.com/wmpartner/station09.htm , and thus didn't freak out.)

Ahhhhhhh....there's nothing like a little Louis first thing in the morning. Thanks Scotto!

Black & White 2 looks intriguing. I'm not a gamer at all...although our new PC is pretty game-ready (or so I have been told). I do like simulation games, though...as long as the interface isn't terribly complicated. I also hate games with complex battle strategy. Sounds like B&W2 just has you point at what you want the army to attack and the game takes care of the rest. I'd be down with that. Sounds simple enough for a moron like me.

Seriously though, I haven't played a PC game since the original Sims. Would this be the sort of game a novice could figure out? 'Cos I wanna play god!

my pleasure... I haven't played past the tutorial yet, but it's pretty straightforward. my biggest difficulty so far has been picking up rocks and throwing them outside of my "circle of influence" with any accuracy.

I chose a cow as my helpful critter, because I wanted an herbivore (no eating my worshippers!) and plus, the cow is cute.

the interface is very straightforwar,d and the art it absolutely beautiful... so far, it seems like a variant there. I'll let you know how easy or har dit is.. the tutorial has a little ghandi guy and a demo to hlep you learn your stuff. :D
