Looks like I'm taking a day off from work on April 4... getting inspected for termites, an I don't want to leave my keep with a snoopy mc snooperson.

Cats over *6* are considered to be seniors? Newtie is still pretty dang fit, thank goodness, and not as overweight as he used to be. I know a lot of 12-year old kitties that are still plenty sprightly, too... I suspect they're shifting the curve a bit low there.

I like the word shleep for the kind of sleep you get from counting sheep. I could use some nice, solid shleep tonight!

Think of your favorite underrated film, type the name into Google and do an image search. Find the best pic and then post it in your journal, but don't say what the name of the movie is! Once you post the picture, it's up to your friends to figure out what the movie is from the pic you posted!

here's mine: (it's also my wallpaper on buckyball at the moment - clicking makes giantness)

I have never seen age 6 before. I've read often that senior age is over over 7 years. Last month, my vet mentioned over the age of 7 being being senior, too. Surprised me -- because hearing it from her (rather than websites), hit home for me. Last night, I signed up to receive a free sample of pet food from http://www.sciencediet.com, and they said over 7, is senior, too. :P

Scotchie cat was 12 (13?) - and in awesome shape. The two I have now are about 10 years, in great shape. Dogs go downhill much faster than cats... I'm surprised the cat senior age isn't higher than it is for dogs?? Odd..but probably something I'm missing.

Those pix on the wall of that movie scene look might familiar. I can't figure out from what though...

One of the mentions I noticed on their site (just using a different domain) about 7+ being senior: http://www.hillspet.com/zSkin_2/products/product_selector.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441760713&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302037391&CONTENT%3C%3Ecnt_id=10134198673425858&bmUID=1143032836072

How old is Newtie now? I thought he was only 5, or so?

Yeah..6 or 7 years doesn't seem to fit kittyheads all that well.

Maybe kitties are getting more longevity, or maybe a lot of outdoor kitties are bringing the lifespan down due ot accidents/predators?

I'm glad you've confirmed that elder kitties are solid healthy critters, too. :D

Scotchie was fit as all get out, because she exercised outside daily - until nightfall. My other two, have never been outside and they just sleep & sloth all day, unlike Scotchie.

That said - I don't condone cats being outside. Neighbors moved & left Scotchie behind 13 years earlier. :( She was rarely allowed in their house. I tried to keep her inside for 2 years, and she scratched/bit/hissed at people/pets. She would knock you down (literally) to try to get out the door. I thought she was just mean, but needed love. When I moved to the city, she snuck out a month later...came back a changed, HAPPY cat. It was a "wow" moment. I realized then that I was ruining her life...so I made the decision to let her come & go. She was a changed cat. I also told myself that I needed to be ready for her to be hurt or disappear...and that happened. She had pure happines till then.

My other two are not allowed to even get near an open door..they don't know they are missing anything out there. :))

Well, the movie was *released* in 1984, if that helps. :)

I recognize it but since I'm privy to insider info I shall remain silent. Just let’s say I have a hazy memory of it from falling asleep every time I’ve watched it.

I stole Minimax's origin story from this scene, actually. Yeah, I know you get contact narcolepsy every time it's on... good to have such an effective sleep aid!

No comparison. Now if you said Tiny Toons or Animaniacs I'd have to think about it, I though I think Tiny Toons/Animaniacs would win.

Cats over *6* are considered to be seniors?

Hee. I recognise that link! I kinda wondered about that; I had always heard it was 7 and above. Still, if you look at the age conversion chart, 7 is only 44 years; I don't know many 44 year old seniors! (6=40, Newt and I are the same age!)

10 years = 56 and 11 = 60; I'd put it there if you asked me, especially since cats are living longer these days.

11 seems much more reasonable for a "senior kitty".
