Far be it from to come to the defense of Eddie Van Halen, but in sake of fairness I think that the comparison while humorous may not be a far one. Morrissey is all posed while Eddie is caught… mid… well whatever it is he’s doing there. If mopey Morrissey were in a shot like that, mouth agape, and such, he might not look so good either.
For example he doesn’t look so bad in this shot from a couple of years ago.




Now it’s is possible he’s just aged a lot these last couple years but I think the pose/angle had a lot to do with it.

That's a very fair statement! I just noticed both were at birthday parties recently (Eddie was at Elton John's, of all people)

Eddie still looks sort of haggard in that picture, but nearly so shot to funk in the one I posted.

I bet you're right.. If I had one of Morrissey during a sneezing fit or something, it'd be a different story.

I saw you said something about david lee roth, I read that he became a paramedic. Which made me laugh hysterically, because the visual in my head was him bursting out of the back of an ambulance, while "Jump" plays in the background.
