GeotargetCool Icon of the moment - if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate

Worked Late both Tuesday and Wednesday...I'm hoping that I can but out a bit early today or ideally tomorrow, maybe to give me time to pick up big brain if it's all better by then.

Well, this might calm down some holier than thou Mozilla preachers out there (don't get me wrong, I surely prefer firefox over MSIE - but anytime somethinggets a new feature, some clown will find a way to clog the pipes.) Problematic enough that Livejournal is reformatting how page URLs are laid out. Added Kudos to LJ_maint for being about as vague as possible regarding this issue in the meantime. [update - news clarifies things a bit better here. ]

My suspicions about Lost seem to be coming to light -
From Damon Lindelof (one of the creators of the show) - "If you're watching the show because you're waiting for the big answers to come, you have to understand that by the nature of what it is -- it's not a movie, it's not a series of movies, it's not a trilogy, it's not a miniseries -- it's going to be on the air for as long as ABC wants to keep it on the air...how can you ever possibly think that Lost will end in a satisfying way? Carlton (the other co creator) and I can almost guarantee you that it will not."
That said, I still dug the Mr. Eko/Charlie/Island Monster Episode enough to follow along. I just won't plan for it all to come together in any good way when the show ends... I'll just toss it in the box with X-files, Twin Peaks, and the rest. Like those, when it turns to poop, I'll stop watching, until someone recommends a particular episode. Heck, I'd already resigned myself to that anyhow.

Is that a scar or a bruise? I want to know how she got it.

at first I thought it was some kind of gothy tattoo, but it's a scar.

Ummmmm, I realize you like to take photographs, but I think this one crosses the privacy line. It doesn't seem quite polite, somehow, to take a picture of someone merely to speculate on their scars, especially without their permission.

Of course, if she consented, you can disregard my comment. I'm just afraid this is specific enough she might be able to be identified by friends or identify herself from this entry - and if it were me, I'd be mortified. Being bitten would have been bad enough, getting scars would be worse - but being photographed secretly and having it posted? Mortifying. Just my two cents.

I can understand your point of view, and your perspective is one I honestly hadn't considered. I'm going to think about it for a bit, and reevaluate the post.

I've moved the photos to a more private post. Thanks for your comments and perspective.

With regards to Lost I have to disagree with their comment. At the end of the series when its all done and dusted, they HAVE to explain it all or they will end up with a lot of pissed off fans who then won't watch another thing they make.

Its one of those stories that needs a conclusion.

Well, I'm guessing that there will be a lot of pissed off fans, who will then go on to make up whatever ending they prefer.

I agree, it is more than just "freaky gilligan's island".

And you'd think, since they know that one day it will end, that they'd prepare for some kind of tentative scripting. Whether or not it's "satisfying" it could at least be some sort of closure for the reason you mention.

yup... or have a "bible" to keep the show consistant throughout the series.

My approach to TV making would be the same as JMS and Babylon 5. Before he even started the show it was worked out well in advance so that everything the viewers needed to know would be revealed by the time it ended. Then you just need to work around actors leaving and any other unforseen events.

Makes much more sense than to write it by winging it.

The "From Damon Lindelof" was refreshingly honest, at least if you get left hanging you'll have a realistic knowledge of why. I think that's what I liked best about Northern Exposure, you didn't get left hanging because they never left anything hang unless it was actually part of the storyline. I've talked to lots of people who felt it was too surreal, but TV is surreal. You can't escape that. So when folks really get upset when a series ends I don't understand. We haven't had TV for months and I don't miss it. But I do love the bit of extra cash to put toward kid's shoes! They are growing out of everything!

I loved northern exposure! An internal consistancy, and ability to keep loose ends interesting, if not tied up.

J-bee again. If you can, just reply to this comment ...rather than unscreening my first question comment to you. :)

You don't have to do any legwork...I just basically need to know if I should shut off the computer. and stay off it until J. can look at it. :/

This sucks. Whomever does this stuff to people sucks.

It *should* be fairly safe, but I'd reccomend being extra-bonus safe and powering her down until you get a anti-virus sort of person nearby, anyhow.

That is excactly the security issue I was talking about before.

Good luck! If it helps, it should be pretty ok.
