Thank you, dear [livejournal.com profile] shoo! My birthday present got here early, but I was good and didn't unwrap the gift paper unless she said I could.

And she did. I got the 2-disc Special Edition of King Kong (1933)! Yay!

Much love to all the family Shoo in Shoo-ville! Newt also likes the box quite a lot, too. He's currently sitting inside, gnawing on a cardboard flap.

Took a lovely late night swim in the pool at about 2am. The water was warmer than the air, which is always nice. I had a brief moment of iguana-fear, which quickly passed after I gave a quick sweep of the area. Very soothing to float on my back, staring at the moon and just thinking and feeling my toes and fingertips wrinkle up a little. Water is still the closest thing to hitting a reduced gravity environment for me... quite peaceful and I could feel a lot of physical tension flow away from my back, legs and shoulders. I was shivering a bit, despite the warm water, and I don't know what that was...maybe the body unkinking? I may make a habit of nighttime soaks more often.

Hey, look at all the batgirls!

A gazillion of 'em!

Some new designs, some just different styles on the old stuff... pretty nifty lj meme. Some amazingly amateurish, others frighteningly professional.

Take me off the shelf and put me in a plastic bag, because I'm sold!

VS and KTM both submitted resignations this week.. that's pretty much the entire community relations department. They'll both be gone before my birthday. I hate to sound greedy, but I really hope this won't affect my making a long weekend out of Feb 2-5 next month. I wonder how long RR has left before he high-tails it, too?

My, my the clock in the sky is pounding away
There's so much to say
A face, a voice, an overdub has no choice
And it cannot rejoice

Crying to the sky

But the porpoise is laughing good-bye, good-bye

The DNA thing is just a co-inky-dinky. ;)

I'm not sure that the opposite sides of Scottobear always add up to seven, though.

Oh & the nightswim thing is very cool! ...Except for the Iquanas. Oog.
Without a male around, there's no way I would feel safe in the pool that late alone, though. :P

After living right next to an apartment swimming pool once, I made sure to always get an apartment far away from the pool. First time around, people would often be drunk at 3am - laughing/splashing/hooting in the pool when I had to be at work the next morning. My landlords just loved it when I would call them and tell them to get the peeps the hell out of the pool. ;)

I really don't know where the iguanas go at night...I expect that they have little burrows somewhere to snugly snooze after the sun goes down, but I had to eyeball the area anyhow... I know that they're mostly afraid of things bigger than themselves, but who know what's up in an iggy's mind?

I was very quiet... mostly just floating and chillin' out. :) My place is far enough from the pool that unless my windows are open, I won't hear them much...plus, as the bulk of tenants here are retired or snowbirds, it's frequently unpopulated anyhow!

Iquanas don't know how to snugly snooze! They disgusting snooze! :)))

Sort of like alligators being afraid of humans, but sometimes... :P
I would be on the look out for iquanas, too. Course I would have giggled myself to death if one had jumped on you, and I got see it in person. You know that kind of stuff goes. ;)

Why do you fear iguanas? Do they bite? Do they go in the water?

I just don't know.

The ones in my area have long toenails for climbing, and swim very well... and some are nearly 20 lbs. I just have a mild fear of being scratched or accidentally bitten.

Iguanas? Hmmm one of the best things about swimming in the bay is having something brush against your leg and scare the poo out of you!!

Which reminds me of a story one of the most memorable moments I've ever had swimming was when I was doing field work in Illinois---a group of the girls had found this secluded pond and we decided to go dipping. I---loving the water and having no qualms about jumping in any water--having proven that the night before by getting sloshed at a restaurant and going out back of it and jumping into the IL river in my dress only to have my professor inform me that it was downstream from a nuclear power plant---but I digress--being prone to jumping in the water I dove right in. Swam around and yelled for the other gals to jump in---all the while ignoring the lake plants brushing against my legs----as I made my way around the far end of the pond I saw a whole muddy bank full of snakes alternating between sunning themselves and sliding into the water---I looked behind me and saw an arrow shaped current making its way towards my leg---I don't think I've ever seen a group of women get out of a pond so fast in my life!!!!!

I don't mind a brush...or even really a bite... they just have looooong climbing claws, and I don't want to be torn. :)

well, the nuke water must've been nice and warm.

yikes!! Swimming snakes are scary, at least cottonmouths!
