Well, as a direct result of my calls, Tabitha Lively was recovered safely in Orlando. Pretty keen.. that makes 132 recoveries in the last 46 months that are a direct result of my gig here.

The US Marshalls were very cool to work with, and FDLE was really on the ball, too (as usual). The Marshalls are up there with the FBI as far as professionalism.

I've already been interviewed by 3 news agencies regarding the story, and the big kahuna is loving the media attention she's getting... Maybe this will keep her sourpuss attitude to a minumum the rest of this week. I'm just glad that I wore one of my nice new shirts to work... I'll be interested in seeing how many errors the different agencies make in reporting... so far, I've never, ever seen an article get everything right with a story that I was aware of outside of the news agency.

You use your talents for this instead of working somewhere else---and I get the impression that you do this because you enjoy helping these people. You could be a sys admin for some company that does absolutely nothing to help anyone!

That's true... This is the only real reward about working in this place. (I'd love to do some good works somewhere else, to be honest.)

Well don't you also regularly give blood and blood products? I dunno you do about as many good works as anyone I know 'round these parts--but I'm sure you'll find a way to squeeze in more good stuff.

Well, yup.. I'm all about the lazy charity. Helping without haivng to get out of my seat. :)

I would like to find a gig doing what I do here, but without the political poopchutes everywhere. :)

Well I think in any type of charitable work you are going to have "politics"---especially if you are govt. funded---and if you aren't then you are going to be busy kissing some rich persons ass for private donations. I think that's just a necessary evil sometimes.

I agree.. my current politics is just a bipolar boss and some micromanagement issues. (and I underspeak the issues for both) The fund raisers can smooch butt, and I'm happy to put on a dog and pony show for anyone that walks around the server room or satellite mapping systems... but most, I really just like to do my job and not worrky about a bunch of sourbellies. :)

donating blood is a super lazy charity! Sit back, feel a little pinch, and then when you're done, have some cookies and juice! I don't know why more folks don't bother with it.

God it make sme woozy just thinking aobut donating blood--although I give every month for bloodwork and I can easily stick myself without getting sick (go figure :D)!
I actually wanted to give at the last blood drive my school had but was told that since I was diabetic they wouldn't use my blood---I should check the validity of that!

I'm funny about donating, too.. I don't like to watch the needle go into my arm, but it really doesn't hurt at all.

I don't think that they ask about diabetes, but Hep and some other dseases will preclude you from giving.

You know what's sick---I can't believe I'm saying this---but after I stick myself I stick my finger in my mouth (habit) and I can tell by taste whether I've got high blood sugar of not! HAH

Yeah I'm gonna try and give again---especially before inkygypsy has a go at me with a needle--I had a feeling the blood drive people were being super picky.

I'm pretty sensitive to sweet stuff---I always have to get someone to taste my diet soda if order one at a restaurant to make sure that it is in fact diet---it all tastes super sweet to me!
