A #1 Super Happy Special Lucky Fun Bill
=================================
The Treasury Department recently sold 44,000 one-dollar bills to one person — at a price of $5.95 apiece.
The bills weren't even all that special — they weren't very old, and they didn't have any major flaws that made them valuable to collectors.
What they did have though, was four number eights in a row in their serial numbers — a sign of luck to many people of Asian descent.

It's Official: Canadians Are Dull
=================================
QUEBEC - A new report says there is some truth to the notion that Canadians are a somewhat plodding and not very creative people, and suggests a traditionally Canadian approach to the problem: the establishment of a commission on creativity.
"Canada is not a very creative culture. Traditionally, it hasn't been," said David Bentley, professor of English at the University of Western Ontario and author of the principal recommendations of the report. "It's tended to be a receiver, a secondary culture. I would love to see that turned around."
The study says that while there are pockets of innovation in Canadian industry and schools, most of the country might as well be declared creatively AWOL.

Do-It-Yourself Amputation
=================================
OTTAWA - Adventurer Sir Ranulph Fiennes has told how he cut the tops off his fingers using a saw and vice in his workshop when the pain from frostbite became unbearable.
In February last year, Sir Ranulph was flown to Ottawa for emergency treatment on his left hand after it became frostbitten during a solo trek to the North Pole.
On his return to England, the tips of the fingers and thumb turned black and dark red -- evidence of dead flesh -- and ached every time he touched something.In steady pain and months away from scheduled surgery, he retreated to his workshop at his home in Somerset for what he calls a "common sense" remedy. Using a vice mounted on a workbench, he inserted his injured fingers, one at a time, and cut off the dead ends with a saw.
