also, I have to get a new battery for the laser pointer, so I can mess with Newt like this some more.



Heard from an old High school pal who used to hang out with Steve Jacoby, Brent Ashland and Me. Clayton was the reason we had all the cool Print Shop signs in our Raiders of the Lost Sock movie. We're talking 8088 IBM PCs, and Apple ][+ era stuff. He found my lj on a google search. For Taco Viva.


Last time I saw him.. 1986ish? Another lifetime ago.

Had a nice lunch out with Jenjen (She paid, even!) We talked about work, kids, technology, and danced around politics. Helped her especially with Bittorrent and RSS feeds. She put me on a few leads for grants, too. She's put on a little weight since she moved back in with her parents (with her husband, while the house gets fixed up) and i think that it's in no small part because it grates on her nerves. I'm glad to hear her hubbie is sounding better than he was at last report, and we laughed about WB and his crew getting audited by the IRS.

I think that hearing from old high school friends is cyclical. I just got a classmates email from one. It said that I would be "pleased at how she turned out. Hint: I like my evenings and the local liquor store." I figure she's what? An alcoholc vampire? And I should be pleased? What the hell? I love the Newtie Footage. His big green eyes make me want to snuggle him.

I came across a Puss in Boots icon the other day, where Puss' eyes actually blinked (errr..or maybe it was on my hdd...I've got a zillion). I seriously thought about Newt when I saw it. :0)

Playing with the negative on pictures and film can produce some cool results. I had an old B&W photo of a creepy gate into an old overgrown Victorian cemetery, and when that was turned negative the creepy factor went right up.

I don't know if you have a similar site in the US or whether its the same one worldwide - I signed up to a site called "Friends Reunited" mainly to see how my old class mates where doing. I've tried contacting a couple of them but after a few mails it dried up, or I didn't really want to talk them again.
Besides, I never lose contact with the few people I really considered friends back then... except one and I don't know whatever happened to him and his family. :(

What amazes with some of the folks I was at High School with is that at school they were the sort who would never amount to much, or at least not to much more than Joe Average, but who yet 15 years later run their own businesses. One guy who was in my class through High School was a soccer/football player and not much else, yet here he is now running an interet firm from Hong Kong!

Still, I don't mind too much being the guy who didn't amount to much. :)

Pye's is July 1st. He had a sedate birthday this year---his mom was bad and didn't give him his presents until after the day---and even then she didn't wrap them. But I don't think Pye knew the difference since he pretty much leads the life of Riley anyway :D

the default passwords link made me laugh because one of the names near the top of the list was Acer. Which is what one of my brother's friends named his kid. Well it's not actually his kid, but that's a whole nother story and I'm saving it to sell to a TV soap.

I am not sure whether to be impressed with myself or embarrassed that I knew that Kerouac quote before I'd finished the first line. Is that from On The Road, where he's talking about Dean Moriarty?

the kid is named Acer, the guy who may or may not be his father is called Querino (pronounced Creen-o), his uncle is called Clayton and his grandmother is called Marina. They sound exotic but they're very local.
