Puppy Swallows Knife
Originally uploaded by coolnewspics.

The dog had the blade between her esophagus and stomach for about four days before it was removed earlier this week in a 2-hour operation. The puppy has an 8-inch scar, but is fine and back with her family. (AP Photo/Courtesy of Imperial Point Animal Hospital)

I saw this on the news the other day I think. Crazy what dogs will do sometimes.

heck, all the dog know was that something was on the table, covered in tasty meat-juice!

Yes, but you hear a lot of stories of dogs eating things they shouldn't... balls mainly.

Holy cow!
I've seen some xrays of other dogs doing that, too. It never ceases to amaze me. I mean..how do they not contort their bodies in a way that the knife doesn't sever? :P

I keep knives that are out - rinsed off -- and far back on the counter if I need to walk away. If the cats smell food up there, I don't want them to jump up - land on a knife and have it hurt them.

I'm glad you're extra safe! I keep all my knives well out of place, too.. I Don't want anyone poking newt!

Does Newtie ever get curious and jump on the counters, and such...when food is involved?

For some reason I always think of him being super-straight up boy...never getting into ANY trouble.

Well, aside from breaking the webcam. ;)

My cats knock stuff down and break it, too. At first I have a "#$#^%&&*& get a job, if you're gonna break my stuff!" moment...but then get over it. They don't understand, beause they're fuzzy babies with toddler brains. :0)

Well, Newt is a total babyhead, even though he's going to be *SIX* on 10/5!!

I love the little almost birthday-boy to bits, even if he is a klutz. ;)

he can be naughty at times... doesn't usually mess with people food, unles olives or super-salty stuff is involved. :) or froot loops.

he knows he's not allowed certain places, and when he goes there anyway, he looks terribly guilty when caught.

Mine look guilty...but then break stuff when jumping down in their panic. :P

what combo loves...olives, salty stuff or fruit loops!
