The 200-foot-long toy rabbit lies on the side of the 5,000 foot high Colletto Fava mountain in northern Italy's Piedmont region.

Viennese art group Gelatin designed the giant soft toy and say it was "knitted by dozens of grannies out of pink wool".

Group member Wolfgang Gantner said: "It's supposed to make you feel small, like Gulliver. You walk around it and you can't help but smile."

And Gelatin members say the bunny is not just for walking around - they are expecting hikers to climb its 20 foot sides and relax on its belly.

The giant rabbit is expected to remain on the mountain side until 2025.

Theres days I think that the world hangs by a delicate thread... and then you get days where I think the human race is quite mad.

Today... giant pink bunnies.... is one of those quite mad days.

Madness if they think it will last twenty years...phufft!!
They should have donated the money it took to make it to the victims of natural disasters..there are enough of them right now....sheesh!
I am grouchy I guess. Any other time I'd laugh.

In the aerial view it looks sort of surprised, like it fell out of a plane.

I think it's about time I added you to my reading list. Maybe I'll find out why you 'bought' blogshares in waning_estrogen.

I was picking up people on my "friendsfriends" list here and there... It's been a while since I was playing the blogshare market, however.

er. for some reason this doesn;t quite inspire the warm fuzzies in me that other people seem to have.

The mounain itself, on it's own, isn't beautiful enough? I feel the same way about Mt. Rushmore.

On the up side, maybe alien invaders, viewing it from above, will decide we're just to crazy to manage as submissive intergalactic slaves and give up before they start ;-).

I suspect mr bunny will get more wild than wooly looking after a few rainstorms. :)

I have mixed feelings.. mount rushmore is pretty cool as a human feat, but mountains in general are gorgeous to begin with.

around here for some reason they carve horses into the chalk hills. There are a bunch of them. I've no idea why.
In a village near my mum there are badges carved into the hills, I think they were done by soldiers who were staying in barracks there or something.
I'd rather have a big pink bunny though!
