I didn't see the rss feed thing there...but have a question for you. There are some websites that I wish I could add to the LJ rss feed page, but they don't have a feed setup on their page. :P

Can I add them to some other type of rss reader, or something? Or a way to still do it through LJ (the best option!)

hmm, if they don't have afeed on the page, sometimes it's hidden, and sometimes you'll have to set up a "screen scraper" which is sort of messy, and not as fun.

fortunately, most journals online now have some sort of feed... even if it's hidden. the rss reader I use is the freebie version of awasu - http://www.awasu.com/ , you can put a web address in the bar, and if it finds any feeds to chew on, it'll show 'em to you, and let you add them directly.

I hope that helps, and if you want or need help with scraping, I'm happy to show you how to do that, too. :D

Wow, I didn't think about it being hidden. Is that because the owner of the webpage has purposely done that, or somehow the company site they're a member of, automatically makes one for them? Or both? :D

There are a bunch of food blogs (ew that "word", but they are on blogger.com) & especially cake & cupcake blogs (shutup!) that I want to add to my friends list. I figure it's rude for me to ask them if they would consider adding a feed to their blogs so that others can read 'em more frequently. :0)

I think they end up hidden, because the default settings are just there, but not active.. but it could be for any of the reasons you mention!
