7572 - I wonder what brought me back in?

Back in the Top40 again.

I still have no idea what the exact criteria is, but I'm smack dab in the middle at #20. At one point, way back when, I was the most googled in all of journal-town.  My longest stay on the list was about 60 weeks, but I bubbled off a few times. I read about 5 of the following journals/communities regularly, and am familiar with about another 5. Half isn't bad!

About the Top 40 list

Popularity is determined by Google's page-ranking methods. So there are a few caveats to keep in mind:

• Only Web pages crawled by Google affect the ranking. This is believed to be a good cross-section of the Web, but no search engine can index the whole Web.
• Many pages on LiveJournal.com itself are not indexed by Google. Thus, a person who is popular among other LiveJournal users may not necessarily rank highly on Google.
• Google's ranking method is proprietary, so it's not known how well it reflects any given Web page's true popularity.

nah, that's an old rating from way back when. both are elements of the same situation, tracking the most googled over time.

Congratulations on your, um, Googlehood. Thank you for adding me; Sedef tells me that this is a good thing. I believe that it is, but I am still in the confused LJ stage where I keep screwing up everybody's colors and checking off the wrong boxes. Nonetheless, I am happy and heartened. I hope that all goes well with your brother.
