The Gizmo that takes white blod cells, and gives me back everything else. The apheresis process takes about 90 minutes. (2 hours if you count sign-in)
Good premiums today.. They bought my lunch, gave me an american Flag beach towel, a T-shirt and a free AMC movie pass.
Not a bad haul for a lazy-man's charity.

Date: 2005-07-01 08:48 pm (UTC)Plasma, you can donate twice a month. I'd investigate any location pretty carefully, though... a lot of homeless / jobless folks will do it, so the wait at those places can be long, too... between 30 min and 4 hours, usually.

Date: 2005-07-02 04:54 pm (UTC)How come blood donation receives no payment, but plasma does? I'm showing my medical ignorance here...I don't know what plasma does. ;)

Date: 2005-07-02 05:48 pm (UTC)Other places will give money for whole blood or plasma... I'm not sure how the cost splits out, but I think you get a better bang for your buck with plasma, because you can give that every 2 weeks, rather than 8 with whole blood.
