Blur-kitties are fun, too!

I'm not as spastic as Carrey.. probably closer to the laconic Ryan Styles.

ooh. are you very competitive?

aha... keen sense and feeling. Sounds like a hit there!

Most of the time - no. Maybe 60/40 in the workplace & in my personal life it's about 70/30. I have no want to beat out others...I just want to be me, so it's perplexing when I find others who do try to compete with me. It kind of makes me chuckle.

I think one of the isfp pages out there mentions something about male isfps being competitive, though.

you didn't strike me as a "I MUST DEFEAT YOU AT MY OWN GAME" sort of person. :)

That's what made me ask.. I know you're a female and all, but I figured sometimes, the tendency might bleed through to the gal-side too.

"visionary" rather than "inventor"

In general, ENTPs are upbeat visionaries. They highly value knowledge, and spend much of their lives seeking a higher understanding. They live in the world of possibilities, and become excited about concepts, challenges and difficulties. When presented with a problem, they're good at improvising and quickly come up with a creative solution.

that seems fair, if a bit flattering. :)

snoopy pack rats taking apart watches! that's us! :D

I think that personality typing is very useful, especially to management types looking to fit people into jobs and work habits.

I can see these about you!

-- However, they do tend to be extremely genial, if not charming, when not being harassed by life in general.

-- With Extraverted Intuition dominating their personality, the ENTP's primary interest in life is understanding the world that they live in. They are constantly absorbing ideas and images about the situations they are presented in their lives. Using their intuition to process this information, they are usually extremely quick and accurate in their ability to size up a situation. With the exception of their ENFP cousin, the ENTP has a deeper understanding of their environment than any of the other types.

Thank you for the first one! :) I try to be a friendly guy when I can.

I admit, I am very curious about the world around me (to the point of calling it nosy, really.) I think that I'm a pretty good "snap-judge" of things for the most part.

thses stand out about you -

ISFPs tend to be quiet and reserved, and difficult to get to know well. They hold back their ideas and opinions except from those who they are closest to. They are likely to be kind, gentle and sensitive in their dealings with others. They are interested in contributing to people's sense of well-being and happiness, and will put a great deal of effort and energy into tasks which they believe in.

ISFPs are extremely perceptive and aware of others. They constantly gather specific information about people, and seek to discover what it means. They are usually penetratingly accurate in their perceptions of others.

ISFPs are warm and sympathetic. They genuinely care about people, and are strongly service-oriented in their desire to please. They have an unusually deep well of caring for those who are close to them, and are likely to show their love through actions, rather than words.

Yeah, we are both very nosy! :))))

Those fit me...some more strong than others, though.

One of the things that some of the other isfp pages mention (or maybe those do, too) is how friendly isfps are until they're messed with, then they get aggressive instantly. That's me. Perfectly good reason in my head why that is.

Isfps also look very aloof and emotionless if they don't know you..and that's me, too. People who don't know me well assume it means I'm cold and stern, and that's not the case.

Also isfps can be very friendly one moment, and then aloof the next... and that's me, too. I've noticed it confuses people. :P

So there are some negatives for ya. ;)

aww.. a warm puppy! I'm a mama bear to Newt. :D

It's funny, but I think very few people read the comments... I am surprised that this thread hasn't done a "collapse" to just usernames and subjects!

Unless they're like you or me, and have to squeeze every drop of info out of stuff. :)

From: [identity profile] juliabee.livejournal.com
It hasn't collapsed? woo...

You know, I've asked people I know in person if they read LJ comments, and they say no, or rarely. It surprises them anyone would want to. I'm surprised they wouldn't want to. Comments are where most of the action is!

I didn't know you were a comment-poker, too. ;)

You bet... I've often wanted to have a "filter" for comment streams, but screen and unscreen does the trick.

You can learn a lot about conversational style and deeper detail from comments... but I'm preaching to the choir. :)

something that surprisese me is folks who edit an entry after I've read it... knocks ouot my equilibrium reaidng an entry that's "mostly" the same.

"You can learn a lot about conversational style and deeper detail from comments"

Exactlyyyy! People are more free in comments from what I've seen...and they often time follow patterns.

I fix bad grammar, or certain parts of posts that make no sense to me 2 hours..or even a day later. :P

my posts evolve too, but I'm lazy.. I'll just slap a -

or whatnot. :)

I wonder if we ever got together for coffee, how much time would be spent tlaking about lj itself? I suspect that livejournal wouldn't get too much airtime.

I don't think you & would talk tons about LJ. :0)

When I went to that book reading recently, there was guy there who is on LJ. I didn't know him before the reading. He seemed smart & shy maybe? He was struggling in the conversation - so I purposely switched to LJ talk, and he was really able to get going with the LJ talk in return. ;)

That makes good sense.. you cna't have all hard-working cogs tha tdon't think ahead, or lazy slacker visionaries that don't get work done!

I'd love to attend a day-long class on personality typing!

Only a workplace that doesn't have a micromanager in charge!

They tend to get my goat... I've actually said "here, why don't you do it? it's easier than you sitting on my shoulder and pointing to the screen" to an old boss.

From: [identity profile] juliabee.livejournal.com
"here, why don't you do it?"

Holy cow..you just made me laugh with that. Good stuff...!

I don't dig micro-managers...I want to be left alone. I tend to not say anything outright, but my demeanor becomes pissy with them. I'll have to remember your way of handling it.

Date: 2005-06-24 04:20 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] scottobear.livejournal.com
It didn't go over well with them, but I felt better for saying it.

I don't get pissy, usually.. but sarcasm starts to creep out the edges.

another tricy situaiton is having more than one boss... if you have to answer to two or more people with the same rank, and each wants different stuff right away... I don't like to, but I've had to sit three managers down and ask them to priotize amongst themselves what need to be done first, and then come back to me with the list.

heh... well, since I notoriously work in almost all-female environments, I've seen the ladies do it too, just liek the guys.

Guys usually try to "male" thier way through it.. since I'm one of them - buddy-pal, chum.. do it for the guys...

Fah! If the perosn that signs my checks wants something, and someone in accounting wants something.. well, the check signer gets priority!
