Well GrayPumpkin saw the new Batman movie and has confirmed it's Batmanny goodness. (He tends to agree with my breakdown of Sci-fi fantasy authors mentioned earlier... and) I trust his opinions more than the vast majority of fan-types out there. I'm trying to help him find an old module - Death Duel of The Destroyers.. By Bill Willingham.
If anyone has it to sell or give, let me know!
Dear magical pixies that live in my mouse pad: Please bring me Belgian Waffles for breakfast.
Dang pixies that never give me what I want! I hope Newton eats you.
YubNub is a “command line for the web." For example, you can enter “gim flowers” to do a Google Image search for flowers. tts does text to speech, 411 a local search, etc.
Google Maps now covers the whole earth – well, sort of. Though country names, rivers and country borders are now drawn world-wide (and satellite imagery is available, too), there isn’t any detail yet for countries outside US, Canada, and UK. Other changes to Google Maps are being rolled out incrementally, too.
Check out the new overview of the Museum 'f Art and the Moonlight Movie Park. Also Satellite maps. You can see the singing fountain right about in the center, in the upper left hand corner of the green park.
Little blue arrows now show one-way driving, and significant buildings / regions are named.
Good ol' Lore.
"I was thinking of getting laser eye surgery, but it turns out it can't be used offensively."
Moment of Lyric:
Workin' in the coal mine
Goin' on down, down
Workin' in a coal mine
Oops, about to slip down
Workin' in a coal mine
Goin' on down, down
Workin' in a coal mine
Oops, about to slip down
Five o'clock in the mornin'
I'm already up and gone
Lord, I'm so tired
How long can this go on?
(Repeat Chorus)
"Cause I make a little money
Haulin' coal by the ton
When Saturday rolls around
I'm too tired for havin' fun
(Repeat Chorus)
Lord I'm so tired
How long can this go on
(Repeat Chorus)
Five o'clock in the mornin'
I'm already up and gone
Lord, I'm so tired
How long can this go on
(Repeat Chorus)
The Crazy horde of Black grasshoppers with a yellow stripe has been replaced by dozens of these Locusts. Dang things freaked me out yesterday morning... there were about three dozen of them on palms under cover on my walk to the bus stop in the rain yesterday morning... if it hadn't been so wet, I'd have taken a few pictures.
They were flippin' huge.. at least 3-4 inches long each. I like grasshoppers, but I made an inadvertent GNyahhh sound when one whirred on past. Still, better Leaping dino-hoppers than mosquitoes.

Date: 2005-06-21 01:32 pm (UTC)I'm curious what you'll think of it once you've seen it. It wasn't bad, by any means. Just seemed disjointed - with things going different ways. Katie Holmes' part seemed out of place, too. I keep seeing complaints about her small role, and her acting (seemed 'okay' to me, just out of place), & I wonder if all the "TomKat" stories in our faces lately, have colored what people thought of her in it. I know it caused me to think of the two of them, during the few times she showed up on the screen, and it annoyed me. ;)
On the other hand - I didn't think Mr. & Mrs. Smith would be very good, but ended up loving it. People clapped a bit at the end. You know throughout the movie, everything that's going to happen -- but it's the ride that was a lot of fun.
Then (shush...I've seen far too movies lately!), I expected little from the Longest Yard, and really liked it, too. I thought it was going to be really dumb, but it was far from that.
------------------
Take my words with a grain of salt though....all the males I know loved Batman more than the other two. ;)

Date: 2005-06-21 01:58 pm (UTC)I figure the Smith Movie would be fun, just because of all the pretty people, and explosions. If they can toss some clever writing in there, what's not to like?
I've heard a lot of good things about the longest yard.... was it as good as the original?
I suspec tthat of the three, I'll dig Mr. and Mrs. Smith the most, just because I know too much batman as it is, but generic action and pouty lips will get me every time. :)
I knew you saw a lot of movies, but didn't know you went *out* to see them so much! Hooray for summer Blockbusters!

Date: 2005-06-21 02:08 pm (UTC)The 'clever' writing was what made The Smith's so fun. :)) Oh & Angelina was great in it.
I didn't see the original Yard movie...going to check it out on Netflix, though. Surprisingly, I liked the Yard best. I know for me though, it had something to do with the added 'endearing' stuff they threw in. :p
I don't normally see many movies out...it's just that we have several of those theaters where they serve actual meals & drinks during the movie, & I love them. They just opened another up one right near me..and it's hot & boring in the house lately, sooo... :0)

I wonder if I could bring newt to one of those movie places? I really like having him nearby while I watch stuff. :)

Date: 2005-06-21 02:23 pm (UTC)LOL..yeah that would be me. I move the other more dramatic movies down in my netflix queue, because I want to see the girl crap first. ;)
Not sure. The place we have is full of young people..more creative or liberal (not in the politics sense, really), so they might not squawk. If you had a drive-in, you could definately take Newtie.
BTW, the first time I got my own cat at age 18..I took him places with me. ;) I would put him in a denim carry bag and he would sleep. Then I would let him out once I got to my boyfriend's or friend's place. People now days would act all weirded out about it, but back then no one thought anything weird at our young age....they liked that their cat had a temporary playmate. I started him doing it as a kitten..so cars..none of it scared him.

Newt would probably get really nosy with other folks.. I'd probably have to keep him on a harness.. not too fun for him. Newt used to go on playdates, back when I hung out with the folks who adopted his sister, Mandy, but they moved away. Newt still travels well in the cab, especially if he can play with a finger or two poked into the carrier... in the old days, I'd just carry him in my arms, but I worry too much to keep doing that.

Date: 2005-06-21 02:14 pm (UTC)Plus, you can go on dates to drive-ins & have a fancy picnic in the car while watching the movie. ;) If your date has an SUV or a truck, you have lots of space to spread out to eat..don't have to listen to other people yapping and eating...and you can even have candles. :D

Date: 2005-06-21 02:16 pm (UTC)There's a huge drive in near my house... but I don't drive. I wonde rif they'd let me walk in with a rolled-up beach blanket and a cooler? :)

Date: 2005-06-21 02:30 pm (UTC)People did that! They also had an area with built-in bbqs. We would have movie parties there when we were growing up.
Maybe call them - if they have a live-person line? Because once you got into the one near Phoenix, they had picnic tables, people were sitting on cement walls, walking with kids to take them to the playground there, etc.
Awww..all this talk of drive-thrus and I really miss it- now. :0)
I've often wondered why more of them aren't built.

picnic tables sounds awesome!
Batman Movie review.
Date: 2005-06-21 04:59 pm (UTC)The other cool thing about the movie was that beforehand we went to Johnny Rockets (I had taken my brother and two neighborhood boys along) and the youngest kid was so cute he talked the Johnny Rockets guy out of MANY free nickels so we could play the jukebox. The songs we played were also awesome.
Other cool things about the movie--we had good seats, the theater was not too cold as theaters tend to be in the summer and the trailers were quit enjoyable (aside from the one that was probably NOT suitable for all ages as I had to hide the seven year old's eyes--although this gave me time to sneak a gummy bat), the zombie movie action star Cillian somethingoranother that played the villian had a full head of hair and was quit tasty looking as a result although his intense acting seemed to make his eyeballs bug out of his head which made me worry about his health and resulting blood pressure, Katie Holmes did not do that annoying Dawson Creek lip wrinkle/sneer thing which made me a bit more sane during the movie although I did not understand a word of her speech at the end--it just didn't make sense, also has some pretty cool Kung-fu action grip-type scenes with Laim Neeson who was suffering from the inability to grow facial hair fuller than a fu-manchu, also I noticed this is the first Batman where the guy in the costume really doesn't look like the guy without the mask--so that I could see the female lead being confused instead of just stupid, also also Batman's teeth turned in a great performance.
Let's see I think that covers it except the other good part of the movie was that afterwards we all piled in my truck and drove home and a good song came on the radio and we all la-la-la'ed along to it.
I'd give Batman a two thumbs up. Fine flick.
Re: Batman Movie review.
Date: 2005-06-21 05:12 pm (UTC)Johnny Rockets is great.. they make jim-dandy fries and milkshakes, and hire nice people (at least at the one on Las Olas!)
Batman's teeth? did he take off a blouse buttons with them, or wiggle one loose to spit into the eye of an attacking bad man? I must see.
It sounds like a fine time was had by all... what did you guys lalala to?
:D
Re: Batman Movie review.
Date: 2005-06-21 05:19 pm (UTC)We sang along to Kaiser Chiefs-I Predict a Riot (if you haven't heard it I can help with that problem---be warned it may get stuck in your brain---we've all been la-la-la'ing all week!)
Re: Batman Movie review.
Date: 2005-06-21 05:20 pm (UTC)Maybe Bruce got some dental work done in the course of the film?
I haven't heard the song, but I'll certainly seek it out!
I like to lalala!
