fooling with customizing my journal in the S2 style, just so I can support tags. (Example - all entries that I've tagged that have an mp3 link. I've only gone back through June so far.) Still some scaffolding up. We'll see if I keep it or not.

There seem to be some glitches.. it keeps reverting back to default colors sometimes, and the font does the same. Maybe it's time to step away from my Halloween type colors and go with something more Parchment-y.

The tag feature may or may not be useful to me... most of my entries are all over the place, topic-wise.

I was just reading about the tag thing, too. I'm trying to figure out if I can make completely private tag stuff, too. Not sure if I'll use it yet either...gotta nose around first. :0)

"If you have used a tag on entries with a mixture of security settings, the tag will adopt the least restrictive setting. For instance, if you have a tag used on three private and three Friends-Only entries, the tag will be visible to your friends. If you have used a tag on three private entries and one public entry, the tag will be visible to anyone."

...What do you make of that? Is it saying it will show three private entries have been tagged, but others can't see what you've tagged in the private entries? Or does the entry remain private for the most part, but SHOWS the whole tagged part of the entry that's supposed to be private? :P

I'd like to be able to tag things for my own purposes, in a public entry..and not make it apparent to the world that I've tagged it. Doesn't look like we can do that. Hmm.

ooooh...looks like your right.. you can't do a hidden "jewelry" tag if you've tagged one of the as public.

I suppose you could get around it by naming the tag something obscure that only you know... like "TAG-A1" means all the entries about ice cream or something.

you'll see the name of the tag, but othe rpeople will never see an entry you've makred as private in the secutity settings.

But it looks like it changed some of the font in this public entry (to red), when you tagged it? Or did you purposely make the font red for other reasons that don't have to do with tagging?

How come nothing on LJ is ever simple as it is on many other sites. :P

oh, I always mark my lyrics in another color... that's a product of my ugly design sense, not LJ being clever.

LJ is simple only to the people who designed it, not other humans. :)

Ohhh. I thought this - "it keeps reverting back to default colors sometimes, and the font does the same" , meant that the tags put big fat spotlight fonts on the words you've tagged. Oops. :0)

Hah. I think your description of who things make sense to around here, is right on. I find myself not caring about different things options paid users get. Changes to my journal layout being just one. The design system is so freaking scattered & not user friendly if you want to make more than color changes.

oh! whoopsie.. naw, I as referring to the s2 system being a pain in the rump for any design changes at all! :D

the only paid option that I like is polls, and you really can get around that by just asking a question and gettign answers in comments. :)

I like answering them, but I noticed people tend to make poll questions witty. I just want to ask questions without having to think very hard on whether I'm asking it in a witty way or no. ;)
