Not a lot to say about my life, dear journal. Have a pile of links, instead.

The finest radio drama of the 1930’s was The Mercury Theatre on the Air, a show featuring the acclaimed New York drama company founded by Orson Welles and John Houseman. In its brief run, it featured an impressive array of talents, including Agnes Moorehead, Bernard Herrmann, and George Coulouris. The show is famous for its notorious War of the Worlds broadcast, but the other shows in the series are relatively unknown. This site has many of the surviving shows, and will eventually have all of them.

Driver Keeps Tortoises in Trunk for Soup

PALM HARBOR, Fla. (AP) -- Deputies searching an impounded car found six live gopher tortoises in the trunk, officials said. Carl Franklin King, 43, reportedly told the deputies that he wanted to cook the tortoises in a soup, police said.

King faced several outstanding warrants for his arrest when Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies stopped his car Saturday night in Palm Harbor, police said.

Deputies found the tortoises after they impounded King's car and searched the trunk, police said.

King was charged with animal cruelty in addition to unrelated charges of burglary and criminal mischief from the outstanding warrants.

The tortoises survived and were released, said Gary Morse, a spokesman for the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Gopher tortoises are a species of special concern in Florida. Their meat has been considered a delicacy.

Intentionally harming or killing a gopher tortoise is punishable by six months in jail and a $500 fine.

King was cited in Hernando County on May 7 for possessing four gopher tortoises, officials said.

King was being held Sunday night in Pinellas County Jail on $20,500 bail. It was not known if he had an attorney.

My Easter walkabout picture page has gotten about 3000 hits (mostly from German google) since the start of this month. I blame photos of the bikini girl and the prostitute. Maybe the keywords bikini and prostitute, too, come to think of it. Personally, my fave shot is of the Easter manatee.

The Museum of Chimpography. Archived here are photographic images of chimpanzees from our extensive private collection. The continuing goal of our museum is to collect and display these works for the personal viewing and enjoyment of our visitors.

Welcome to the toyshop!

Here you'll find a variety of rather unusual paper toys, all free for you to print out and enjoy. The toys include a hearse playset, coffin gift boxes (with occupants), a little cemetery, several unusual board games, a gloomy little haunted house, a rusty old-style robot, and quite a few other dark delights. So pick out some toys, print out the pattern pages, and with a few common supplies like scissors and glue you're ready to create all these strange little curiosities.

The gCensus application is a Google hack showing United States Census data on top of Google Maps. The US census bureau recognizes several geographic areas for their data. These areas scale in size from the entire United States down to the block level.

Mothra oh Mothra
Hear our call for you to save us
over time, over sea
like a wave you come
our guardian angel
Mothra oh Mothra
the people have forgotten kindness
their spirit falls to ruin
we shall pray for the people as we sing
this song of love

Collection of Superhero TV themes. (I'm still fond of the Men In Black Cartoon Theme), thought I'm not sure why a funky not-really-Sanford and Son theme was used for guys in suits hunting aliens. Did Quincy Jones do 'em both?

Vet called to confirm an appointment for Newt today at 6, regarding an earache. One problem with that.. Newt doesn't have an earache, and I never set an appointment. I called and corrected the mix up, but wonder who lost the call.

"Have a pile of links, instead."

Not sure why, but that made me chuckle out loud. :0)
Mine is 'I don't know what the hell is going on in my life, things are weird right now...so just let me read y'all, k?"

Pffft...Pffft. :P

Do you and your new girlie have a way to keep in touch while she's gone? I meant to comment when you introduced her to us..she's a cutie!

I wasn't in the mood to repeat myself to myself *again*... "ding-a-ling bro, blah blah, Miss MP, blah blah, got to do laundry, blah blah, Newt is cute, blah blah blah."

Sometimes I feel a little like a broken record.

I've got Netflix rolling again, so you know not much is happening with me outdoor socially... but I may go to the club on Friday... free foodies and I haven't been in a while.

It makes me happy that I gave you a laugh. :D

I hope the weirdness in your life is a positive weirdness, or if it isn't, that it moves on quickly!

Re: MP - Yup! We have email and a calling card thing worked out... mostly email. I think she's a cutie, too! Thanks! She should be in town this weekend! :D

Just noticed your icon...neat!

You don't seem like a broken record, though. :0)

Ha...I know what you mean regarding Netflix and social life. Last week, I was super busy outside of the house...when things died down again, I realized I didn't think of Netflix once during the busy period.

Different sorts of weirdness with three different situations. Some positive..some...don't know. Meant to journal about one of them after the bookreading thing, but I think I'm still trying to work it out in my wee little brain.

...This weekend? Does she fly in & out of the country often? If you guys marry, you better not move to another country, dangit.

I particularly loved the Easter walk pictures because it was so nasty here and seeing them made me remember summer was just around the corner here!

Beyond keywords and pictures, I found that a particularly compelling entry. I remember reading it with much curiousity.

The whole walkabout thing with pictures is something I really like.
