Dang, I got all kinds of lucky this weekend. Sunday, I went back to the club, and won the door prize.. free drink, free shot, free t-shirt, free dinner, free lunch, and assorted other goodies. The first two ticket-holders weren't there and I'm the third time that makes the charm. Ticket 818040.

No free soda-pop, because Mari was working rather than Susie. Still, 3-for 1 bottled water works well.

I've got a tentative date with MP after work next Saturday.

Magda Patricia - Noble one in the high tower (it's sort of rare to meet a girl who goes by her middle name, but I can understand preferring the moniker Patricia to Magda.)Quick data file - born 8/10, Leo. no ink.

What are the odds I'd trip over the name Magda twice the same weekend?

Also, Newt likes her lipstick. I had a leftover smooch-mark, and he went lick-happy on it.

Mzk got to check LJ briefly, via my palmtop, but some surly customer didn't like her doing that, so she didn't get to post.

Gummi Smurfs! - "We also cannot control the firmness of the Smurfs from tub to tub."

Best sentence I've seen in a little while. via

Going with Kev to see Star Wars:ep3 on Friday. Please, oh please, don't let it suck like ep1 and ep2! Also, Greedo Shot first.

A day in stunt city. - very spiffy commercial. Remember kids, don't walk through plate glass windows. I dig the helicopter people.

"The Beeb has got free (as in gratis) Dr. Who ebooks, including fresh artwork. The books are in HTML format, and are accompanied by extensive notes by the original authors, so they are useful for both Dr. Who fans and budding Sci-Fi ebook writers alike. Unfortunately, all the books only seem to be available in chapter-size chunks."

The New Adventures series of Doctor Who novels were an experiment by Virgin Books to continue the Doctor's travels in print, following the TV show's cancellation in 1989.

Between 1992 and 1997, 61 New Adventures were published, pitting the Seventh Doctor - alongside Ace and new companion Bernice Summerfield - against such scary monsters as the Cybermen, the Sontarans and the Chelonians - giant tortoises with a penchant for flower arranging.

In 1996, BBC Books decided that as part of its merchandising plans to accompany the anticipated rebirth of Doctor Who following the TV Movie, Virgin's current publishing license - coincidentally due to expire - would not be renewed.

With the publication of The Eight Doctors in June 1997, a new era for the Doctor in print had begun, taking with it much of the writing talent that had developed over the previous five years.

Meanwhile, copies of the now out-of-print New Adventures became sought after collectibles. Some could command as much as fifty times their cover price on online auction sites such as eBay.

We're now publishing a series of these books online, for free. Each comes with a whole host of extras, including brand new illustrations and detailed commentaries from the authors.

via uber - The story on YNOT DOSE from Steve Stitch (the blue bike guy).

Steve sez that YNOT DOSE is actually 2 guys, one is a teenager (possibly YNOT), the other in his early 20's (thusly perhaps DOSE). DOSE has also gone by DOZE as well as DO5E. They recently tagged the two RINKER towers near SR84 and 595 with YNOT DOZE across the towers, impressive.

The BBC EBooks are not the easiest to read, but I recommend Lungbarrow. Its the final Sylvester McCoy story that explains the Doctor's heritage and who he is, and then leads straight into the movie (which then leads straight into the 8 Docotors). I really enjoyed it, even if I did sit up all night to read it.

Have you seen the latest Who episode yet? Some of my friends weren't impressed but I found it a very good, and thought provoking episode.

How weird is that! Some sort of funky synchronicity.

Newt actually gave me guff after I tried to stop his lickies before he took off the outer layer of neck-skin there.

Fortunately, this is the last hurrah for Star Wars.. I'm hoping tha tthey go out with a bang, not a whimper.

Lotto card for lunch today!

OK, so I started to truncate those Dr Who stories into one .txt file when I thought maybe I should be doing this in acrobat to save the pics, so I leave it up to you since they will more than likely end up on my FTP. .txt or .pdf?

Oh yeah, this guy [livejournal.com profile] qdot is a robotic engineer, he's started such winners as Slashdong as well as Eating Out. NWS Obviously, thought you might like to know.

Ep 3 Spoilers with commentary from a 5 year old.
