"In the beginning was water and darkness. A mound of earth rose from the water. From that mound grew a lotus flower. Then Re, the Sun, rose from the island. Re generated two more gods, who coupled to produce Sky goddess Nut and Earth goddess Geb. They, too, mated, producing four children, including Osiris, Isis, and Set. Sometime after, humanity was born."

I fessed up to Mzk about turning down a semester's scholarship to clown college yesterday. Clowning was never meant to be a lifelong vocation. I don't have the balance to do unicycle work these days anyhow. I should work on juggling.

Big brown bear,
blue bull, beautiful baboon
blowing bubbles biking backward,
bump black bug's banana boxes and
Billy Bunny's breadbasket and
Brother Bob's baseball bus and
Buster Beagle's banjo-
bagpipe-bugle band...
and that's what...
broke Baby Bird's balloon.

Trix Cereal is now simple spheres again! (the reduced sugar ones... made with splenda!)

I've been getting a nice regular dose of hugs lately. That's nice... I definitely feel 1000% better after receiving a hug, especially from a pretty girl that smells good.

Fleet Week started.. I need to pick up some of those cards and pass 'em out to sailors in town. I bet I could get 38 more guys through the club's doors. Still no word about the part time gig there after hours.

More gorgeous weather and moon last night. I was happy just kicking back and reading.

Had a nice social chat with [livejournal.com profile] myid8myego last night... Covered some bases [edit - what was I saying?]

I got a very flattering entry written about me in another journal. It's posted filtered, so I don't imagine they want to be known for it, but it was remarkably kind. Thank you.

The Country Bears movie was on Disney last night... better than I'd expected. Cute.

Moment of Lyric:

Envy and it's evil twin
It crept in bed with slander
Idiots they gave advice
Both Sloth it gave no answer
Anger kills the human soul
With bitter tales of lust
While Pavlov's Dogs keep chewin'
On the legs they never trust

Human gene in rice:

Japanese researchers have inserted a gene from the human liver into rice to enable it to digest pesticides and industrial chemicals. The gene makes an enzyme, code-named CPY2B6, which is particularly good at breaking down harmful chemicals in the body.

Present GM crops are modified with genes from bacteria to make them tolerate herbicides, so that they are not harmed when fields are sprayed to kill weeds. But most of them are only able to deal with a single herbicide, which means that it has to be used over and over again, allowing weeds to build up resistance to it.

But the researchers at the National Institute of Agrobiological Sciences in Tsukuba, north of Tokyo, have found that adding the human touch gave the rice immunity to 13 different herbicides. This would mean that weeds could be kept down by constantly changing the chemicals used.

If we breed rice containing human genes, does that make it partly meat- and human meat, at that? If we eventually find it useful to stick human genes in all sorts of food, will we become virtual cannibals? It's an interesting prospect.

I guess it depends who you ask! I still think that the Roman Catholic belief of transsubstaniation is a frightening one. Eating the flesh of your messiah is a scary thought to me.

It is rather disturbing to imagine a wafer turning to raw meat in one's gullet, not to mention the wine turning to blood. But at least Messiah is served with red wine, not white. That would be barbaric, and I'm sure it would so outrage the French that they'd all convert to a more gastronomically correct religion.

Oh, certainly. What sort of vlgarians would serve a zinfandel with Messiah Tartare?

It shouldn't have been a private entry. I don't know why I did that. I guess it felt personal, but not private. I certainly didn't mean to imply that I'm not comfortable sharing.

It's not like I almost went to Clown College or something...

Jesus Carpaccio sounds like a jewish dessert. Transubstantiation confuses me. I don't quite get the scriptural basis. I'm still not clear on why men have nipples either. Theologically speaking.

no worries either way. I figured you might prefer to remain anonymous.

Almosts... there have been a lot of those.

I'll pass on the Jesus Carpaccio. I might have a little off the Abraham Hummus Salad w/ Pita, though!

Theologically, I suspect men have nipples, since we came first.

Why we don't have the repo tract and the ladies do, well, I don't know.
